Sunday Sep 18. This morning I flew into Lee Bottom, Indiana in a Beech 17, the old staggerwing, to help celebrate the last Fly-In there. Since the 90's Rich and Ginger Davidson have been putting on an annual event at their 4000' grass strip alongside the Ohio River and it has attracted an incredible variety of aircraft from all over the States and further afield. It's popularity has really grown almost to the point of overcrowding. Sadly the Davidsons have had to cut the huge workload and made the decision that 2016 was to be the last time. To rub salt into the wound (I just thought that up) the weather for Saturday was poor and Friday not much better so that today is IT. A few years ago a number of us at Bluegrass flew in there during a flight to somewhere and, upon notifying Ginger and Rich, we received an enthusiastic reply and thanks for finding out about them. If you would like to see what they are up to look at....... http://www.nordonews.com......and ......www.leebottom.com........will top you up. Lee Bottom Field has the ICAO i/d 641 and is just south of Hanover, Indiana. ED B

For over 84 years the Rotory and Lions club have held the Fowlerville Dawn Patrol on the first Sunday following the Labor Day Holiday. Since I can remember it has always been a great turn out, except when bad weather shows up. Always fun to watch "The Big City Pilots" try to set down there Mooney an Bonanza's and Twins on the 1500 Ft Grass over the high tension lines. A few go around the pattern but eventually get down for the Pancakes, bacon an eggs and coffie. A lot of years of fond memories. It is a shame the Lee Bottom Field event is ending.
