HAPPY NEW YEAR OK I’m in! Did the test flight and have sent in my Registration so I hope that it will be accepted. I am ferrying my old P-Boat down to Darwin so it will be a couple days before I get down there.. First leg is to Hawaii and then on our way. These old war horses could carry aux tanks for long hauls instead of bombs and such so we have pretty longs legs. Please save me a couple cases of Fosters because I will be some dry when I get down there. Bud BGAN063

Bud,
Got your order for cases of Foster's waiting. In fact, you can have all the cases you like. Aussies don't really drink it anymore, that's why we export it.

This would be a general question directed to Tom, however not out of place with the likes of gaar. Question one is - someplanes have tail lights and some not, if your aircraft does not have a tail light,- but your lighting program has this enabled (ie a light enhancement) what shows up on the rear is a square ish square with very irritatting capabilities. I have since been informed that it would be my nav lights and as I have already sussed this out and am forced to have my nav switched orf....my question is....how to make a tail lamp? Question too is ...I forgot how to place differential brakes on to my planes and although I could figure it out eventually - I was wondering if anyone could post the code so I may plonk it into thy config. cheers

Sorry to disappoint there Bud, but Andy is correct. We may have the fosters melb. cup., the fosters GP and the Fosters grand finale, but for some reason we dont drink it. I blame it on the alchemist that invented it, but personally as one who enjoys a brew, I would suggest a top up of Cascade Premium, a tall-ee of Boags or indeed a box of Coopers Pale Ale. hmmm...the Fosters Great Australian Air Rally has a virtual ring to it tho.... Happy New GAAR to All

The only circumstances under which I would drink Fosters is if the only alternative was Tooth's. Under a fit of misguided curiosity I once (about 1976?) bought a 6-pack of Tooth's Lager. The first mouthful should have been enough of a warning, but no - I had to go and open a second tinnie just to make sure... Fortunately, I believe it's no longer available.

Oh Lordie I know I’m older than dirt but many years ago when we finally arrived down under it was only FOSTERs beer. Now it seems I have really goofed again. You see it has been a long time since I’ve down to Aussie land. 1980’s I think so forgive this ol blot and I’ll go for any of the good local brew. Love this banter. Bud bgan063

Sorry Bud,
Pallet of Foster's has arrived and is sitting in the Bond Store for you for the GAAR. Couldn't even give it away now if I tried, unless there are some unsuspecting 'backpackers' in Darwin.
Maybe you could do a deal with CAPT Zlogg and see if he can add it to his special fuel mix for his Spartan Executive 7W.

Speaking of fuel, I think I read somewhere that fuel will be available at all airports but at some it will have to be hand pumped. Is that correct? I've looked through all of the posts but couldn't find anything. I need to manage my fuel if I'm going to get the maximum relief payload to Dili.

Not to worry, Bud. I was thinking of bringing along some freeze-dried Mountain Oysters. They will have to be "regenerated" in beer, maybe the Foster's will work for that.

Allen, Fuel in these remote areas is a problem at the best of times. The logistic support for the GAAR 2009 has taken this into account with a massive pre-positioning exercise, so you don't have to worry - we won't even make you hand pump it. Just bring your 'plastic card' and make sure you have enough credit on it. We don't have the KGB along just for the ride - they don't take too kindly to credit defaulters. In relation to cargo payload for the Dili relief effort, the bigger issue will be Runway length at YOEN and YGPT.

So we load the relief supplies at Darwin and carry them with us to YOEN and YGPT and on to Dili? I can't carry as much in my Apache as some, but I'll load her up give it a go. I'll send my companions on to Troughton Island and pick them up there on my flight back. I assume we can record the payload weight in the PIREP from Dili somehow?

Allen, Yes, load the Dili relief cargo in Darwin and carry it for Flight Legs 1 to 3. I thought about having it pre-positioned at YGPT, but security was a problem and the fuel logistics issue is a big enough nightmare. Cargo load will be reportable and the PIREP page on the web site will advise how in due course.
