LEG4: Dili upon departure. Giving way to an AI Brasilia... I've choosen to fly with full AI traffic, so I'm not complaining! Holding and waiting...still not complaining... After take-off, had to make large climbing right turn overhead the field to make sure we could clear the mountains. ...which we managed. ...just... Closing in on 'Aircraft Carrier' Troughton Island via the standard NDB approach. Taxi to the stand over the rough coral. Paul GAAR 014

leg 5: At cruise altitude in my cosy cockpit enjoying the lovely music of my R-2800's in sync and the sunrise on the horizon. My old fashioned ADF indicator is not much help here as it comes to navigation. How to determine the 100 deg. bearing?? Well, rely on dead reckoning is my next best option now... "Dead reckoned" point of turn... leg 6: Gibb River: we just hit a tree or a camel or something during take-off, so now our nose gear is damaged; it won't retract! Cycling gear handle doesn't help. No choice but aborting this flight and return to the field... and hope for the best. Coming to a slow halt after landing. Looks pretty bad ! Hope we can fix her up in time to fly today. After a nose wheel replacement (we carry spares in the back and bomb bay) and a thourough inspection of the strut and oleo, we're on our way again. Still rains pretty hard! Finally the rain clears and blue skies ahead! It's gonna be a good day after all ;D Found Derby and preparing to land. Turning base. .. and touch down after a 55 mins. flight. ..and easy on that nose gear!! Paul GAAR 014

leg 7. Run-up and magneto checks at the runway. RPM drops within limits... Let's go! Soon we will find ourselves over the lonely Great Sandy Desert at 4500 ft. Aaah... right on the money! As calculated, we are crossing the road between No.35 Well and Wallal Downs after precisely one hour flight time. Soon we will start to recieve TEF NDB. Overhead Telfer and entering a left hand circuit. Lining up and slowing down. Shutting down at the pump and filling out the paperwork. Flight time: 87.12 minutes. A little too fast... ah well.

Leg 8: Unusual view of my Invader at 4500 ft near Balfour Downs en-route leg 8. Crossing the road Ethel Creek - Jiggalong...only 35 miles to go! Parked at Newman.. time for a cold beer! ;D LEG9 Shortly after take-off at Newman, we fly along the impressive mining operations of Mt. Whaleback. Over the fence at Paraburdoo with a stiff crosswind.

Thom, this was also asked on page 1 of this thread. See my reply below. Hope it helps; I would like to see that big Boxcar !! I use a website called "ImageShack" for uploading pics. It's easy: go to imageshack.us/
and go to 'help' and "FAQ" section. It is explained there how to upload screenies and paste them into forums like this.
Hope this helps. Paul
