Ah, I didn't think about that, Ed. That would really be not fun.

I am not worried about such an event though it would be dissappointing. I have a large stockpile of Wx files covering every month of the year. Each file presents the weather at a certain moment all over the world. That's a lot of weather to fly in. In some cases I chose to record and save the weather because of a specific phenominon such as a hurricane or a snowstorm. But I also have just recorded the weather because it typified the climate at the time of year - hot weather in summer, cool and rainy in spring and fall, and snow and ice or just really cold weather in the winter.
Of course if Jepp did shut down the link, I would share these files with anyone who needed some. You can too help yourself by recording the weather and saving it.
It is interesting to pick a file for a month when interesting weather often happens in the area you wish to fly in, and then to hop around to various airports looking at the local weather - visibility, wind, cloud cover and precip.
For those flying turboprops and jets, the temperature at altitude can affect the cruise speed and fuel flow. This is something to examine when evaluating one of these aircraft. See what they do in non-standard profiles.

A few years back I had a large collection of WX files, some to do with specific weather events, most of them were random. Jim Bertelson wanted a heap of such info so I copied them and sent them to him; then wondered what else I was going to keep them for and promptly deleted the lot. Oh well.
I often go on long trips 'with' friends. They do the hard yards in upholstered tubes while I sit at the computer with a glass of good red. Under those conditions I like to have the RW Wx so I can settle further into my warm, comfortable chair while they have to handle the winds and thunderstorms I have just found for them. Now if Jepp pulls out I will have to find the weather on line and then install it on the sim thereby taking up valuable drinking time.
Currently I am in Moscow after having shadowed the train all the way from Beijing in the suitably slow Luscombe Silvaire. I am pleased to report the weather is not too bad for their first day of local touring .
