Hi Andrew.
I see you have obtained special clearance for us to overfly Pearce. I will have to ask for permission to carry out a low run. My father was based there for six years from late '57 and it was the Vampires constantly being overhead that finally gave me the incurable aviation bug. I have fond memories of "spotting" Wirraways, Winjeels, Daks, Neptunes, Mustangs, C130s, Skyraiders (HMAS Melbourne I think) as well as such visitors as B47 and C124 (USAF), all three "V" bombers, Comets and Britannias (RAF) Sea Vixen and Scimitar (HMS Ark Royal). The five Lincolns that toured the country after returning from the Malayan confrontation came roaring overhead one school day. I was also lucky enough to be at Richmond in '53(?) to see the first RAF Sabre break the sound barrier. They were allowed to do it over land in those days.

Hey Rattles, you forgot the Hastings. My wife to be was being wooed by one of the RAF pilots and got herself a sightseeing flight over her home town, Bunbury, in a Hastings. Actually it might have been a couple of years before you were there I fancy, having counted on the knarled digits. However you have stirred a few memories.
