Nope not the same Wells, although I am restoring a 1941 Beech Staggerwing for real.

Ed, A marvellous pictorial journey of your trip home and thoroughly enjoyed. I have always wanted to embark on such a grand adventure but always baulked for one reason or another - maybe this will be the inspiration I finally need. I at least need a "holiday" after the GAAR. Glad you could join us for the GAAR 2009 and I look forward to seeing you next year.

Ed, while you were at Eglin, you should have dropped over to my house for a lunch. I only live about an hour from there and we could have talked about the old Air Force. Cheers, Bill

Hey, guys. how about adding your home airport to your profile. That way, when you post, folks can see where you are and maybe, if they are in the area, stop, take a screenie and post it to say hello.

Cheers, Bill Hi Bill, Our Squadron did several deployments to the area while I was still in. Once to Eglin and we stayed in the hotel just over the bridge on the beach. . .and the other was to Tyndal and I drove one weekend back to Ft Walton to walk around and then over to Pensacola to go through the flight museum there.

Back in the late '70's and early '80's I was the Aircraft Maint. Supt. for TAWC (Tactical Air Warfare Center) at Eglin. One of my jobs was securing lodging for the Units deploying to Eglin. I used to put up a lot of the guys over on the beach.
