I'm watching the Carenado 185 very closely. I'm not a big tailwheel fan, but most comments are VERY favorable that I've seen. There's been a couple of patches released already to fix certain issues, and I even downloaded a 185 owners manual in case I decide to buy it.
I'm waiting for the Beech A 33 they're working on. It should speed up now that the 185 is out of the way.

Hey all, found a sight you may or may not have visited. I've had this sight bookmarked for some time, but hadn't really looked at it. Forgot now what I originally bookmarked it for. Today I was looking for some scenery objects and went back there, and started looking at aircraft along with scenery and ended up downloading five aircraft which are all keepers for me. I fly in the virtual cockpit and they all had what I would call good to very good virtual cockpits.the flight characteristics felt good to me,(I'm not an expert there),and they had some pretty nice skins. The sight is FSDome.com, if you check it out I suggest you start with the, "Best of the Best", in the left hand menu under file library. I think I went up to page 32 out of 225 and found these FSX aircraft; The Republic P-47 Thunderbolt, if you get mad at someone you can vent your anger with this one. The cannons fire with tracer rounds. The Beechcraft Xa38 Grizzly, the prop disk needs to be replaced on this one but other than that it appears to be a great and unique aircraft. The prop disk is easy to replace, just go in the Grizzly texture files and find the prop disk file, it's called spinprop.bmp in the Grizzly. Rename it with a orig in front of whats there to deactivate it. then find an aircraft with a similar size prop, ( I used a Lockheed constellation propdisk file), copy it into the Grizzly texture files and rename it the same as the original Grizzly propdisk file without the orig in front, ie; spinprop.bmp.... The HU-16 Grumman albatross, been looking for one of those for FSX for some time, this one looks good. The Fairchild FC-71 and FC-2W2 these two look pretty much the same to me, not sure what the difference is. So anyway if your not familiar with this site and are looking for aircraft take a look.

I've been playing with Brett Henderson's P35 Beech V-tail. It's pretty good, actually. It's very simple, there's no GPS or anything assigned to the "ctrl + #" so what you see is what you get. That said, it's pretty complete, flies pretty nicely, seems like the speeds are correct or close (I don't know the actual book values), and the VC is good. The paint job is okay, I guess. I like a shine on the Imron paint look, but chiggers can't be boozers. It's free!
I got my copy off the Nor-Cal Prop Club website.
I'm off to look over the FSdome.com pages.

MH & Flaming SHMBO yes "she who must be obeyed" an idea fom a TV show, "Rumpole of the Bailey" an ageing (like me) lawyer who lived for his work and the pleasure of the ocaisonal drop of red wine who was partnered by a dominating female and to keep the peace he thought of her as SWMBO (you have to have been there MH)

I've downloaded a few aircraft lately and I wanted to mention a couple of them.
I've been having fun with the A22 Foxbat downloaded from flightsimworld.com It's a neat little sport pilot type airplane. Low and slow, but it's not that slow, it'll do 100 mph. I've had to do some approximations of engine rpm settings to use, as it has higher rpms than you'd see in a Cessna. It's got seethrough sections in the back and you can watch your aileron and pedal inputs move hardware back there. Fun, good looking, nice handling, nice cockpit, good visibility, yeah. It's great for flying around that brand new...
ORBX Pacific Northwest freeware. It's a chunk of what they sell, and it's just peachy. It is the penninsula right across the bay from KSEA. It comes with an installer which worked perfectly. Lots of new houses and other assorted items, plus it should be very accurate to the area. There are new trees and grass textures, looks just great on a cloudy day, and I'm still exploring the area in my....
Lexus_LS430.zip which is a car just for driving around the scenery. It's not that fabulous, but it's pretty fun to get up close and personal with the towns. I even found the ball diamond and drove out there. FSX roads are still rough though. Gotta slow down on some of those hilly roads.
While fooling around at the Nor-Cal Prop Club website, I found a couple of nice items in addition to the Beech V-tail I already have. I found a Hughes MD500 Helicopter that I'm actually able to fly! Yea! I have much difficulty with helicopters in general, but I've had good luck flying this guy around.
I also got the F-86 Sabre from there. I've read much good about it, but I'd never tried it. It looks great, and my 8 y.o. wanted to get it and he's messed with it. I'll have to fly it about myself, I haven't yet.
I have downloaded the Tiger Moth from Simviation. It's kinda big from there. It's 71 MB and they throttle their downloads so it took a while. It comes with a .pdf operating manual and looks simply marvelous. I also have not had a chance to fly it yet, but I've watched video of it, and it's a beauty also.
Those were the good ones I've downloaded. Now the bad IMO:
While looking for something to drive around the ORBX PNW, I downloaded the Jeep (jeepfsx.zip) from simviation. As soon as you start the "flight" it immediately rolls hard and crashes upside down. I have been unable to prevent this. I binned it as it's unusable.
I also got ORBX's own BOB. It's the "walk around" guy, that comes with neighborhood noises like birds, footstep noises, and such. It's kind of okay in that you can indeed walk around an airport or go downtown.... I don't like it. I'd just as soon take the Lexus.

June 23rd since the last post! A couple of airplanes to mention THIS year ;D : The Corbin Ace just came out and is available for FS9 and FSX. It's a separate dowload for each style: Floats, skis, spats, no spats. Each download has a few paints, so there's a lot to look at. It's like a Piper Cub, only I can actually taxi and land this one. The default FSX Cub I have a lot of difficulty controlling on the ground; not so with the Corbin Ace. Flies nice, well behaved, easy on the frames, the floats look really good. My favorite is the baby blue spats model. Good airplane for low and slow! The same guy that built the Tiger Moth built a new ultra-light called the drifter. Oh, I guess I need to put in links. I'll do that in a minute. The Drifter is a payware model for FSX but the trial version is a fully functional float model with sounds aliased to something default. The Trike, I think. This is also a pretty sweet ride. The pilot and passenger have real faces which are the best I've seen for people in any simulator. Another low and slow gem! The Iris BD j5 is a mini-jet payware which is a fast VFR only fun toy! It also comes with a pusher prop version. I bought it on sale over the holidays for $5! This thing is a blast to fly around. It would be great for exploring fjords and canyons. All three of these are recommended! I haven't downloaded any real dogs for a good while, so no "avoids" to report. Links: IRIS mini-jet: secure.simmarket.com/iris-premium-series-bd-5-microjet.phtmlAnt's drifter: www.antsairplanes.com/drifter.htmlscroll down the page a bit to find the free demo download. The ISDT web-site is still down. Hope they come back as that is the only place you can download the King Air B200 from. Their copywrite prohibits any distribution except mods to the textures, air file or aircraft.cfg
