Hi, Wonderful news about the GAAR . Thank You Team. It is such a great and friendly event. It feels almost like a family outing. An odd family to be sure. Now to read the Rules and try to stay off the sauce until I start the engines at least. Babuschka,,Babouschka. blindsquirrel2

Greetings from the US, Can you help me get an object libaray for the scenery used in this rally? I am using FS 9, and would llike to have this look as real as possible.

Charles,
There are literally 100s of object libraries covering a whole range of scenery objects.
Can you be more specific?
If you are wanting a more general realistic view, go to the bottom of the "Downloads" page and you will see a paragraph on "Optional Downloads". For FS9, you can't go past the VOZ freeware scenery. Everything you need is included, but it is a large file size (599 MB) as it covers the whole of Australia. Once you have it though, you will realise it's worth it and it will hold you in good stead for future GAARs, not to mention wanting to explore the rest of Australia - there is a hell of a lot of country down here.

Andrew, It is indeed good to see your smiling countenance back with another challange for us all. I will be bringing old bony-wing to the table this year. Corsair F4-U and of course properly loaded with all my required good luck items. George Dickel Bourbon for my Tennessee heritage, Kulbasa and perogies for my Manitoba home, and my Kiwi on the dash to keep me upright and flying true down under. Yes I know it is flightless but I like the little guy.

George,
Good to hear from you and see you back again for the GAAR.
What's the F4U's short strip performance like?
You have two 1900' grass / coral runways to contend with this year.
I have no doubt she would get off the ground, but can you pull her up inside 1900'

Are you overwhelmed by the magnitude of the swimming pool in QLD? cheers Capt Zlogg vp KGB Air Droppers (cows, rhino's & elephants) Chairman World Edible Poop Commission

...the price of beetroot has gone through the roof due to the flodding, undt the price of potatoes is expected to rise above 1400 roubles per potatoe. Luckily Cousin Viktor (last scene in a slow boat to Japon) has many hessian sacks in ze cellar holding since the '56 vodka shortage. I found a second hand kettle in the english quarter of London and it seems to work ok. Still googling proppy, to much avail. I rumour has it that he is in Quambatook

Good day Andrew To use a real short runway I have learned to use the flaps and put the F4U almost into stall on landing. It took a few nose over landings and some real hard bounces but the setup for the F4U is carrier based so the gear takes quite a bounce. On take off I brake stand, go to full power and when the tail lifts release the brakes, just before the end of the runway, pop on some flaps and the old girl does a leap in the air. I do have to watch my airspeed or it will stall out real quick if I bring the flaps back up too fast. Capt Zlogg: it is indeed good that once again we fly together. I do hope if we do any island hopping we do not go swimming, my trunks are still put away and the site of me in birthday suit would frighten all of OZ. Good Luck to all who take up this fine challenge

Oh Boney Wings, vodka swiller and beetroot eater; Proppy has no concerns as I have several hundred kilos of potatoes stashed away in my shed, 2001 vintage, and he is very welcome to disturb them whenever he wishes providing he needs no assistance! As for the flooding I am still carefully preparing my entry for the glorious GAAR keeping in mind that there is a puddle or two where we intrepids are want to dally. The ability to float seems desirable. We could start with the Martin Mars and work our way down to match the 1900' runway that is on offer. Notexa

Firerworks (strictly optional) will shortly be available. I'm not sure where the pyrotechnics will be happening apart from the Melon Festival and at Cairns, but this year's budget has been swelled by a generous whiparound by members of the Barmy Army, so we might even be able to supply "ooh" and "aah" opportunities for each leg.

Glad to hear you haven't floated off Ed Andrew hasn't mentioned anything about us needing an amphibian yet but then it probably still hasn't rained in Melbourne?

Smithy speaking of Smithy I am contemplating using a Lockheed Altair I saw a mock up of the original in a local park(Anderson Park Neutral Bay) in november and I was so impressed I went home and downloaded one Can't make it work properly in FSX but FS9 is fine

Andrew hasn't mentioned anything about us needing an amphibian yet but then it probably still hasn't rained in Melbourne? Chris, The requirement for an amphibian is optional and dependent on how well you can nail the landing at Lady Elliot Island. Otherwise, you might be flying an unintentional amphibian. And I thought Sydneysiders believed it did nothing else but rain in Melbourne.
