Well, since I've moved to Linux and away from Windows, I need to move to X-Plane, as it runs on native Linux. It looks promising, but my current system is not powerful enough.

Jerry! Long time! I've been waiting for the new version of X-Plane to come out to see if I need a new computer!
Please feel free to elaborate on your linux/xp experiences. I may indeed someday find myself doing what you're doing. If XP 10 is able to outperform Flight sim X or the new Flight, I may move that way. Flight simming is the main reason I don't drop Windows.

I'll keep you posted. Simming was the main reason I had a dual-boot system for a while (Linux/Windows). But I bit the bullet and dropped Windows when I discovered X-plane. I need a more powerful graphics card.

I guess I'm a guest by now since it's been a while (again). I bought X-Plane 9 and found myself flying and developing for X-Plane at the expense of FS9. Well, getting married did cut my overall flightsim time too, from being whatever I decided it to be as a single person to becoming what I could fit in between our shared everyday chores :-)
I'm still very much a flightsimmer. If I had more money I'd get a PP license and rent real Cessnas and Pipers but the virtual flight experience will have to suffice for now. X-Plane 10 is right around the corner. I don't know what MS has got up their sleeves. However, while I do know that X-Plane is totally into flight simulation I'm not sure of the Microsoft priorities. They fired the team that created Flight Simulator X some time ago, yet I'm quite certain they'll decide to revive and continue their FS series. As long as I've got access to good flight simulators (as opposed to "flight games" or other "games") I don't really care.
The great thing about X-Plane is that it's cross platform. Thus, there's no flightsim argument for sticking to Windows.
