Back again after my broadband has been down for a week. I was reduced to flight planning on graph paper, plotting bearings and measuring distances, and sending PIREPs from mates 'puter. But it's all good for an old brain. Catching up now ... I hope this was Cameron Corner but I have seen bigger places! but at least I'm sure this was leaving Bourke and I'm on time at Lightning Ridge Dave H

Here we go on start of last day. I'll hit a couple of turboboost switches for this takeoff just to be sure of clearing the end. Looks like a nice day, but we are starting a bit late so am sure of a night finish. ... and here's the last of the daylight well not quite - just enough light to cope with a hefty crosswind for a touch and go at Cessnock and I'm not too confident about Bathurst ... how right I was ... over the top at 6,500ft on the ADF for an NDB approach to Bathurst and then had a nightmare inbound at 700ft on the radalt trying to see the poorly lit runway, thumped 2 wheels down on it halfway along with nasty crosswind and heaved it into the air again before running off the edge - technically a touch and go but i would not have survived a landing there and could not spare time to attempt the into wind runway which I think was unlit. Downwind for 08 at Wollongong with nice fireworks ... followed by another panic when couldn't see the 08 threshold ... never mind the ticking clock, where's the ticking runway??? Resulted in my worst time of all! Nice to be here though even if the rest of you are long gone thanks for a brilliant experience. See you next year. Dave H

Hi Deltahotel. Nice to see the old girl in the rally. I actually worked on tht registration and airframe in Winnipeg in the late '80s before she went north to Buffalo. Spent many a scorching hot summer day in the cockpit keeping the old radios going in both her and her near sister TXW. Hope the rally went well with you.
