A REPLAY OF THE 2007 GAAR , would work especially if it would simplify the set up time , good idea ! GAAR , the sequel

Hullo to all, my name is Rob Finn and my pilot ID with Bluegrass was BGAD 003, I think my last flight was around 2007. I have sent emails to Bluegrass with no reply as now I am retired I am once again taking up flight sim as a hobby and would like to re join as a pilot. I am the guy that compiled the original GAARs and also the Australian division flight schedules, check with Bill VS, he may remember. From the Pireps it seems that Bluegrass is still fairly active and don't we all love to fly the old prop liners, so what I am asking would it be okay if I could become a Bluegrass pilot once again. My email these days is finnzfnq@bigpond.net.au, I have no idea of my original login detail as it was to long ago. Hope to hear from someone soon. Kindest regards Rob

Hi Rob,
Good to see you back. Sorry I missed your email, work has me dashing up and down the UK at the moment. All you should need to do is submit a pirep and the system should show you as active again. (Should because sometimes the database has a mind of its own!) I'll drop you an email - suggest editing your email out of the post above in case of spambots.

I think my first GAAR was in 2008 or so. It may be old but it will be brand new to me. I can't remember what I had for breakfast, so a repeat would be no problem at all.

GAAR 2007, that was a great event! As far I remember, Torres Strait, small islands and the Gulf of Carpentaria. FANTASTICO and BRAVO. Urs

Just for the record, I fly FS9 and FSX but prefer FS9. Allan, will the test time flights still be at the same place as the last GAAR? If so, can we fly the test flight in advance? Just excited to go, I guess. Allen

Hi all, I have not been involved with Bluegrass or flight sim for 8 years, but now retired have taken up the hobby again. I would propose a new GAARS for 2015, if further time is needed to compile it, then put the event back by one month. The GAAR should be kept simple, restricted to two aircraft categories, Cat1 single piston engine, Cat 2 twin piston engine, both categories can be vintage or modern aircraft. The route, Hobart Tasmania to Port Moresby New Guinea in short sectors of 30 minutes to 2 hours and using rural township airports. The times would be from brake release on the runway to an over fly of a nav aid NDB or VOR/DME at the arrival airport, The landing will be up to the pilot and not counted in the time, so you can go flight seeing if you wish before landing. Thre would be a pre requisit time trial flight with all GAAR sector flight flown at 3000 ft so you can view the country side. Just my 2 cents worth, what do I know about the GAAR, the more modern ones nothing, but I did compile the first 3 GAARs with Bill VS.
Cheers Rob
PS to Allan, the login worked fine, thanks, tried to email you but my email computer at present does not want to play the game.

Allen,
We will be using the standard test flight and I am currently setting up start of day flights for both FS9 and FSX, but you can fly the test flight using existing files for now.
Rob, an interesting idea which gels with a mix of a set of flights I had set up, but not used, and a concept we flew some years ago. It may surface on another continent!

Not a problem Allan, maybe with your approval I could work on something for the GAAR for 2016, god willing, a sort of Pheonix Rising thing. Cheers Rob

Good to see you again Rob. Allan, Considering the current workloads I think the re-run of '07 is a great idea. It takes in a swag of interesting country and, like Bill L, I get cold feet gazing into the 'fridge, so it will be new again!

I will aim to get the preliminary event pages including the test flight webpage up in the next few hours. In the meantime here is the link to the equivalent page from the 2012 event: www.bluegrassairlines.com/operations/gar_gp/2012/gaar/test_flight.htmlI am resetting the dates to start from Feb 23rd through to March 19th with four days between flight days.
