I can hardly believe it. It will be available for PC via the Xbox game pass for PC program. Not sure what this means for Prepar3D and care little. A brief report

Quite a surprise, it will be interesting to see the technical spec needed to run it! Also that x-box pass package seems to cost about $90 per year.

Initially, let me say I've long that that Prepar3D was a supermassive rip-off.
But yeah, since I don't use consoles I don't "get" the delivery or pricing structure of current gaming.
A subscription model is likely for FS 2020, unfortunately. Then again, if the consumers get value for the continued pay-ins, that's different. But that could lead to chasing your tail with hardware upgrades to keep up with software improvements. Nothing new there, either. Sigh.

It is nice to see another sim platform come into the equassion, giving many a choice of selection for their sim preference.....BUT
Many of us these days use P3D or XP11 so after all the money that has been spent purchasing these sim's along with aircraft upgrades such as PMDG, QW, A2A to name a few, then comes scenery such as Orbx purchases ActiveSky and the list goes on, to just throw all this away for this new simulator, not this little duckling.
I am lucky enough to have a high end computer but many out there do not, will the average computer run this new sim with all its breathtaking detail as seen so far, I very much doubt it, so start saving your dollars for a new $4000 computer.
Microsoft may have something up there sleeve regarding the above with the new sim, that we do not know at present. It will be interesting to watch the sim's development.
Cheers Rob

Sad. 2020 over half over and (1) no new forum posts, (2) I haven't flown so far this year, and (3) no FS 2020 yet.

Hi Joe and all:
FS2020 will be available worldwide (download!) on 18 August in all three versions. Also - that is hwat I did - you can get a subscriprion for Microsoft XBOX for PC for $3.99 a month and play the Standard edition there with the included pass. That is a good way to test the new game and to decide if you will buy it or not....
So, just 15 more days and we can lay our hand on it.... Cheers and have fun!

On my very ordinary system the definition of the trailer is uninspiring. Maybe I am looking at quite an outlay to fund 2020 !

Luckily for me I upgraded my main computer guts last fall. I'd sure like to check this out in VR but I don't have that. Maybe someday.
I think it's cool that Saba is one of the high resolution "hand crafted" airports. (Oh, I thought I posted the airport list, too) Anyway, the time when all of us here were trying to land at Saba-- maybe fall of 2000-- was one of the high points of this forum.

I got the deluxe premium with fries and a shake. Spent a fair amount of time screwing with the GUI/settings because that's changed.
I've been flying the Cessna 172 because that's what I'm familiar with in real life.
Anyone?

In the year 2525, er 2021; hope everyone is well.
I wasn't thrilled with FS 2020 at first but after figuring out a few things and some nice updates it's much better. There are some neat challenges and when they add these they usually update the facilities. They just added some new challenges and updated airports in the Nordic region, e.g.

2020 is a hoot. I really like the Standard version, aircraft, scenery, airports, lighting, weather, and cameras. I recently realized that as I added aircraft to my hangar that they were showing up as static scenery at airports I visited. I still like to fly steam gauges and found that 2020 has very few steamers so my GA addon aircraft are all steam gauged cockpits so far... both freeware and payware. There are a few great freeware aircraft available, and more and more payware too.
I still own and fly X-Plane 11.50 and P3D. I like the challenge of keeping my 67 year old brain remembering the three platforms - especially challenging is to navigate using the three sims. 2020 gets used most but multiplayer flights help me pick one of the others based on the parts of the world where I have ORBX scenery installed. The nice thing about 2020 is that the default scenery is so good that I can fly with my friends anywhere in the world, with great scenery.
One of the great things about 2020, at least so far, is that the world updates are free to the purchasers of the sim. The recent Nordics world update means I will be spending some time in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, etc.
Cheers, and happy and safe flying.

I purchased the Premium edition, I do not care much for the glass cockpits in general aviation aircraft and much prefer the steam gauges in props. I have to give MSFS 5 stars for the scenery but feel they sacrificed aircraft quality and only give them 2 stars here. I know many disagree, but I feel the default aircraft in FSX is better quality and truer to the real aircraft they are supposed to represent. I had almost given up on MSFS till Aerosoft released the CRJ and then PMDG released the DC-6. The FlyByWire also has done an awesome job improving the A320. I have not tested the Working Title CJ4 yet but have heard many good reports about it. Now if Airplane Haven can release the DC3 prior to the next GAAR, I may give MSFS a go for the next event.
