Hi Allan, Where might that nation be? I just discovered Orbx Simulations and I'll need to download the scenery. Allen

Hi Allen,
Well it's an arduous and perilous adventure, only for the boldest.
So grab your hand sanitiser to ward off other's bugs, put on your face mask to keep your own bugs to yourself, put in the earplugs to ward off gibbering politicians and TV pundits and step outside your front door.
Right, you're there!
So North American Landclass is probably the best start-off point (it is 18GB), which seems to need global base pack landclass (another 6GB)according to Orbx.
The last section of the flight crosses the Northern California region. It passes below the Central Rockies region.
Personally I like flying the mountainous less populated regions, so I have never bothered with Southern California - even back in the days when I could visit the area!
I accept no responsibility for damage to hard drive capacities or bank accounts. Of course the flights are set up on plain vanilla default installations.
To really damage the wallet book a holiday to Iceland that your government won't let you fly to, the airline cancels the flights, and then the local booking agents go quiet about returning your hotel costs. Humph.
Keep safe.
Cheers, Allan

Hi Allan, So I have the Iceland and Pacific Demos and the Pacific Northwest region. As you say I need: North America Landclass Global Base Pack Global Vector - recommended but not needed? In built up areas (not Seattle) I'm getting ~50 fps. Will I lose fps with the NA Landclass? Also, I assume I will need: Central Rockies region Northern California region Anything else? Thanks. Allen, masked, sanitized and home bound. PS the Iceland demo was free.

Hi Allen,
Apologies I meant to say that we miss the Central Rockies by passing a few miles to the south of the region. I don't think that the landclass causes much of a frame drop. It bascally replaces the global default scenery panels with improved ones. The NA one then makes the global scenery tiles more specific for North America.
So Northen California is the only specific region we cross. To be fair that is only the last two legs on the last day.
Global vector improves the accuracy of the coastlines and airport elevations, so can cause chaos on multi-player flights! I think the landclass packs and Northern California are on sale in July.
Just tell Mrs P that I made you do it (whatever you choose to do)!
Cheers, Allan

Hi Allan I've been reading the manuals this today and I now understand more about how it all works. Funny how that helps. So for now I'll just get North America LC and Global Base Pack. I do have FS Genesis. Reading the NW Pacific region guide it was disappointing to learn that it just covered east of the Cascades, nothing around my area. I haven't decided whether to get the Northern Calif. region yet. Anyway, thanks for your help. Looking forward to the rally. BTW, Mrs P is on board. Say HI to Mrs L. Have a good day. Allen
