Over the last couple of weeks, FS9 locked up on me 4-5 times.
Today I installed FS9 again.
First I moved my old FS9 to a different location.
After installing I started up with the Martin 4-0-4 at KAGC. The panel was missing most of the gauges!
I copied the gauge folder from the old fs9 to the new one.
I restarted with the Martin 4-0-4 at KAGC Pittsburg and took off for KMDW Chicago
My FSNAVigator doesn't work. I checked to make sure my registration information was in place in the Modules/FSNav folder.
Thats OK. But in reading the FSNav documentation I find that there is a fsnav.dll file in Modules. That I forgot about, so I copied that over.
FSNav still doesn't work, but I think thats because I have to restart FS9. After I land at Midway I'll try that.
I took quite a while to move my addon scenery and aircraft to the new FS9.
When I clicked the "Register Flight Simulator" the link doesn't exist anymore.
I haven't found the 9.1 service pack yet so I'm flying version 9.0

I noticed the forum hanging up this morning, trying to load ads from pixel.quantserve.com So I updated my hosts file in C:\Windows\System 32\Drivers\etc If you never installed a hosts file you can download it from: www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/I'm not sure if it works in versions other than WindowsXP

New aircraft in my hangar. Beechcraft King Air C90B_XP downloaded from avsim.com filename king_air_c90b_xp_v2 by Dee Waldron, Henry Tomkiewicz, Michael Verlin & Steve Small I modified the panel so that everything is on the main panel. Also modified the aircraft.cfg to get the correct fuel burn as per the Blackhawk conversion web-site. fuel_flow_scalar=1.285 //Scalar for fuel flow efficiency was 0.95 And I removed the awx prefix from the sim= and the texture name from the panel=

I have been flying the C90GT recently. That's a C90B upgraded to better performance. The difference is not big. The model I fly is by Sonja Michelle Thomas and looks very nice. It has good views out the windows but I don't have a full 3D panel. I use my regular twin turbo panel with the PFD, MFD and digital engine instruments including the Tpower meter.
For a nice challenge fly into Dauphin Island, Alabama, 4R9. To test planes for landing on that 3000 ft runway, I start at Mobile Downtown or BFM, about 20 nm north of 4R9 . The preferred runway is 30 for both wind and noise.

I flew from kbfm to 4r9 via a isec that is about 9 miles SE. The final heading is 317 deg and I made a dog leg at the end to line up with runway 30. It was a bad landing, I touched down before the threshold.
I tried it a second time flying direct from kbfm over the 4r9 then turning downwind, base and final. Another bad landing. Then I took off and flew the pattern again, but further out. Last landing was pretty good.
The C90B_XP is a Blackhawk upgrade with the PT-135 Engines. You can buy a 2004 C90B with the upgrade for not much more than a new Piper Meridian

{I am getting hit with delays caused by that Flash pop-up. No Ads dis nothing to stop it because it pretends to be a "security warning". This makes Forum entries difficult as whole sentances dissappear while the Flash thing is getting ready to 'pop up.'}
The runway is a little narrow and the way the ocean laps at the far end makes you want to get down early. But the reverse thrust is powerful on the C90 so stopping should not be a problem.
For comparison you could get Sonja Michelle's model of the C90 and put in my FD. Don't know if it would fly better but I have a low opinion of Verlin and Small.
For a challenge I flew a Learjet 31 from KBFM to 4R9 and landed ok. I carried 8x200+300 but had a low fuel load as though ending a trip down from KHSV. Then I took off with just the pilots and flew to KBFM where I loaded enough fuel for a return flight to KHSV with the 8x200+300 load. All went well including the loaded takeoff from 4R9. The Learjet 31 has spoilers and thrust reversers. Otherwise it is an "entry-level" jet though it has an MTOW of over 17,000 lbs so it requires two pilots at all times. I need to fly all three aircraft to 4R9 from KHSV - Phenom 100, C90GT and Learjet 31. Its about 90 minutes by C90 and Phenom 100 and just under 60 in the LJ31.

For more on this stuff go to the Embraer Phenom 100 thread in the FS2009 section. It runs out flying to Dauphin Island from any distance is more complicated because you can't buy fuel at dauphin Island (4R9). You must fly over to KBFM to get fuel for the return trip. This is particularly interesting in the Emb 100 because fuel must be figured very closely on any trip. But it involves some calciulations for any aircraft.

I lost my sound today. It was working this morning, but it's gone now. I switched speakers but that didn't fix it. Running a sound card test indicates that it is working. Maybe its time for a new computer. Windows 7 comes out next thursday. I wonder if FS 9 will work with it.

yes FS9 will work with W7.
Tom, are you using Internet Explorer, or FireFox for browsers? If you're using FireFox, you might try the "noscript" addon, in addition to the "adblock Plus" addon.
If you're using IE, i'm not sure.... I gave it up a long while back.

I have my sound working again.
Both mine and Mary Ann's computers could use upgrading, running out of hard disk space on hers.
I'm looking at computers assembled by a local computer service.
AMD Phenom Triple Core 2.6 ghz 4gb ram 500 GB hard drives

Oh cool. you'll be really happy with FS9 on a machine like that. Do they custom build?

I'm not sure, they advertise custom systems, but may get them from someone else.
The new computers are on hold for now. Since I have my sound working, I'm not desperate. May wait for the Windows 7 SP1 to come out.
