Well, here we are at the end of the GAAR 2009, finally. The Final Results have been posted to the web site. I am proud to announce the following competition winners: Screenshot CompetitionFS9 - Paul van den Berg img5.imageshack.us/img5/5357/014leg22xa3.jpgFSX - Thomas Baerenzung img4.imageshack.us/img4/3051/099510.jpgBoth Paul and Thomas each win a range of FS products valued at approx AU$200.00 courtesy of The FlightSim Store. Random Prize DrawsGaston Webb, David Finlay, Sid Knapp, and Hans Korf*ge - sorry Hans, the Forum keeps putting an asterisk in your surname. Each winner wins a FS product valued at approx AU$60.00 courtesy of Aerosoft. I will contact all winners about their prizes in the next few days. Certificates will be sent out over the coming week(s). As a certificate file is created for each individual, it does take some time. I would like acknowledge and thank the following for their support and efforts, which without the GAAR would not have been a success: Todd Whitehead for his support in providing an excellent PIREP system; John Lawler for the Fireworks file; Coleman Green for his work in successfully integrating X-Plane into the GAAR for the first time this year; and Mike Caldwell for his input into concept development and route and situation file testing over a couple of bottles of good Barossa Valley Shiraz and a "road trip" from Adelaide to Sydney. Finally, to all of you, the participants, who made this event what it is. Thank you for your support and contributions via the Forums, "screenies" and emails. It has been a pleasure bringing you the GAAR 2009 and I look forward to seeing you all next year. Some figures for the statistically minded. Registrations: 158. Completed the Event: 124. Distance Flown: over 443,300 nm (not including deviations, circuits and the DNFs). Hours Flown: over 3,325 (not including the DNFs).

Andrew, very well done and congrats to the 'team'. I presume next year will be flights in and around Aussie, how about some of the flights including the very short airstrips in the Thursday Island group of islands, you would have to allow the 'big boys' to hire light ac to take part in this part of the rally 2010! If anything. the graphics and scenery are better on the 2004 than the fsx versions, snarl and spit! Best wishes for the coming year, Alex PS the flight times might be a little tricky for those blokes who have to hire light ac! I can't remember the details but there used to be a very good add-on program with the scenery in that part of Queensland for the 2004.

Alex, Thank you. Funny you should mention the Thursday Island group. The GAAR 2007 started at Horn Island (YHID) and took in various Torres Strait islands before moving across to Gove and finishing in Darwin. Murray Island at 1722' (from memory) is a real "doozy". Details are still on the Bluegrass web site at the following link: www.bluegrassairlines.com/gaar_2007/I might need to find some other short strips before going back to the Torres Strait in the short term.

thanks Andrew for the info, missed 2007 for some reason, think my computer had 'blown' and I lost all my contacts, including Bluegrass, obvously much too soon to do the TI thingy again, getting across to NZ might be beyond the capability of most light ac, otherwise a very scenic area to fly, they might object to being on an 'Aussie' rally!!! Best wishes, Alex
