Midsummer evening flight from Texel (EHTX) to Lelystad (EHLE) in my beloved Tiger Moth. Start up near the control tower. It's 25C, slight wind from the west and all blue skies. There we go! Starting the left turn to follow the exit pattern. Looking back at Texel island. We are now over the Waddenzee heading 090 for Friesland. Just north of the Afsluitdijk near Kornwerderzand. We turn right to follow the A7 to Bolsward and Sneek. No Nav-aids, this is flying with a car map and Mark I Eyeball. Over Sneek we turn south for Lemmer. The famous Frisian Lakes. This is the 'Heegermeer' and 'Fluessen'. ..and here we pass the Slotermeer with scenic Sloten village. Approaching Lemmer. Dusk is settling in, but according flightplan, we should be at EHLE before sunset! Over Lemmer. The lights on the A6 freeway to Emmeloord provide a good reference. The Noord Oost Polder. This all used to be water once. Approaching the fishing village of Urk with its' rotating lighthouse-beam clearly visible. ...and there comes the powerstation of Lelystad in view. Turning inland and prepare for landing. We will contact Lelystad soon. Over entry point 'Bravo', turning in into the standard circuit. Field in sight, turning downwind. ..and final. Taxi-in after landing towards the Aviodrome-museum... ..where an old KLM 747 Classic 'PH-BUK' is on display since a couple of years. Parking at the magnificent replica of the 1930-ties Schiphol terminal. "Thanks for the ride, friend!".

Having a forced lay-over here at KSEA I wanted to play with the good old bird, my Sopwith Snipe. I found another old bird, not me, an old Vickers. What a pair.

Toronto - New York (JFK)
We continue our scenic flight back to Holland... After an early but sturdy Canadian breakfast, we are leaving the Toronto Cargo apron and heading for the runway. Found it.... and cleared for take-off. Waking up the neighbourhood... Dawn through the windscreen. Always a beautifull sight. Sceneca- and Cayuga Lake near Syracuse, NY State. Cruisin' USA.... The Hudson river comes into view. ...and the right turn near Kingston. Approaching JFK, we are close to La Guardia. Landing at 22Right... ..which leads close to the water. At the gate. In just two hours, we will be airborne again. A quick change of cargo from the lower belly, some fuel uplift, and we're off! to be continued... (all the way to EHAM )

New York – Goose Bay (CYYR)A few hours later, we’re on our way again, setting course for Goose Bay, New Foundland, our last stop before the ocean crossing. Hand-flying the SID, left turn, passing 3500 ft. Long Island below and behind. Boston down town, -harbour and surrounding islands. Over Bostons' Logan airport. Crossing the Gulf of St. Lawrence, approaching New Foundland. This is really a remote corner of Quebec… Coming into Goose Bay airport CYYR. The field was used in WWII by the RCAF and was then the largest population concentration in Labrador! Now it is both military (NATO) and civil. Over the threshold rwy 26. Note the row of RAF AVRO Vulcan bombers in the background. (outdated scenery perhaps ?...) Parked at the civil ramp. Fuel is ordered and we are getting off the plane and take a cab to the hotel. We’ll have a few beers at Mulligan's Pub and hit the sack! Tomorrow will be a long day…

DDA-flight from Amsterdam to Cambridge, UK. This flight I made in reality two weeks ago, with exactly the same route and similar weather conditions. Taxi-out on the historic ramp of the old Schiphol Airport, "Schiphol East". With Schiphol Center in the background, we make our way to runway 04. Shortly after take-off, the left turn towards the tower. This way we stay clear of all in- and outgoing jet-traffic. Flying right over the airport is always impressive and scenic! The dunes at Zandvoort. From here it is all water for about 50 minutes... ...and more water... Tiny DC-3, bigh North Sea. We are at 1500 feet. Finally, the British coast in sight. We estimate to make landfall at Southwold, Suffolk. Over beautiful Suffolk with it's lovely hedgerow country roads, derelict USAAF 8th AF airfields and small villages. Nearing Cambridge. Over Newmarket now and preparing for landing. Field in sight! Flaps one quarter please... Gear down and locked. Flaps half, please... Over the threshold. We have to back-track after landing... ...to enter the ramp in front of the terminal. All fueled up for the home flight and parked in front of Cambridges' historic 1930-ies terminal.
