Anybody know why the MAAM's won't start in FSX, at least in mine they won't? I've tried everything the right and the wrong way. I know they won't start in FS9 if you have your fps unlimited....strange. Thanks and Happy trails.......Rick

I don't have a MAAM and don't use FSX. But the time-honored temporary solution is to switch to another piston aircraft, start it and then switch planes.

Thats what I'm doing for now. But thats getting old fast. Maybe google can come up with a fix. Things like this is why I use FS9 about 75% of the time still. The reason I'd like to come up with a fix is I'm using MAAM DC-3 in AirHauler and when AirHauler starts the Engines are off. The DC-3 Airways DC-3 flys as good if not better so maybe I'll use it. Thanks anyway Tom. Rick

Yes, I recommend the DC-3 Airways DC-3, especially since I had a hand in tuning the FD. My understanding is it lands better.

I have the MAAAM DC-3 and I found out that if you set the frame rate at 30fps and not maximum that the engines will start. It works for me.

You might try this.
I did this many years ago and I guess it worked, as I have never had another problem in FSX.
Under [piston_engine] in your aircraft.cfg file change the following.
normalized_starter_torque=1.4 //0.6

Hi Rick
I start the MAAM DC-3 in FSX like this:
- set brakes - Master on - Magnetos both - Mix rich - RPM to high - Throttle idle - Beacon and Nav on - Prime left and right - Fuel pumps left and right - Start left and right - Generators left and right
my setting: normalized_starter_torque=0.55
Hope it works!
Cheers uhug
