Goyer is still the editor in chief. Wallace has been canned. Connie Sue White, the managing editor since last month (I guess) is writing a column on the Sport Pilot. She mentions that pilots of the new Light Sport Aircraft category are not required to have aeronautical knowledge to fly them. Maybe that's her qualification.
Robert Goyer raises the alarm about the company called Light Squared Technology that is intending to establish a fast internet system that will ruin GPS in the US by creating interference. The FCC is helping them.

Yesterday I saw and read Lane Wallace's farewell column. She wrote it was her decision to leave but who knows. According to one of her websites, she'll be doing some work for EAA and public speaking. I liked her a lot. Her U2 articles were the best thing I read in FLYING.
Sounds like FLYING is losing altitude. Just seeing the words "not required to have aeronautical knowledge to fly" strung together, even as a paraphrase, is disturbing. If they want, they can use the whole Sport Pilot thing to dumb themselves down to a wider audience.
Ka-ching!$!
