I'm still not flying enough. My setup is not as good as when I used the "Desktop" computer on the floor at the corner "cockpit" layout with rudder pedals. Now I fly wrapped up in cords in my power lift chair cranked up to the proper attitude for moderate relaxation. My joystick cord comes across my lap from the "end table" on the right between our two lift chairs, my headphone cord goes off to the left with extra length coils on the floor to my left, (headphones mainly used to provide background music), a short cord comes out of the back of the laptop (that actually sits on my lap), goes through the fan base and connects to a USB to power my twin cooling fans. Almost forgot the power cord that winds around from the left up to the left side of the fan base and through it to the right side where it plugs into the laptop for power. So I get all set to fly and something disturbs me so I have to get up. Two cords get unplugged, the "UP" flaps are selected (sorry I mean UP tilt motor is engaged which tilts the chair forward and then down and then raises the seat up so I can step away without bending my knees. But first I must bend down and place the computer safely on the floor. The complexity is utterly ridiculous!
Does this unload my heart? Maybe when I recline to 90% and take a snooze.
I still try to record a song on soundclick now and then. I also have devised a "playlist" for Songza" of some favorites done by very fine jazz musicians including David Benoit, Dave Koz, Grover Washington JR, Walter Beasley, The Rippingtons, Brian Culbertson, Stan Kenton, Count Basie, Sarah Vaughn and others. This is available through my Facebook page. I don't know exactly what that looks like or how you use it because I don't see the same thing when I look at my Facebook page. This is pretty good flying weather. Basie's "Helicopter" will help. A couple of people have tunes named "Flight" and Grover's "Winelight" is great when high and on course.

That does not sound like a whole heap of fun Tom. Seems to me that the hazardous part of flying is tripping over the cords! Ed

Hey, I lost one important aspect of FS9 somehow. I can't get a starting flight that picks up the actual date and time to go with the weather. We're getting into the annual hot months and I like to get the true time, season and weather. I can't find where to turn those on now.

Any saved flight should include the wx that was current with that flight. Reload the flight, bingo. Maybe you have another issue going on.
And Tom,another issue that you raised was loading a saved flight plan and only getting the start and finish points. This is a constant thing for me and I have to load the plan twice; I'm looking at the map with the offending information, I click load, then highlight the flight again, click ok and there it is in all it's waypoint glory.

After hanging around the North Texas Regional for far too long I have covered a whole lot of Lone Star territory and alighted in Laredo. I really cannot say that I saw a lot as the flight was at FL260 but the terrain was rather flat so I don't feel deprived.
Now for the last section of this odessy, Mexico. Can't wait.

Yes Lou I have mesh for all Mexico but I would like some land class for your area. Can you point me in the right direction? I won't be flying for week or two due to a couple of 'away from home' commitments.

It's been a long stopover in Laredo but at last I crossed the border into Mexico and did a low flight to Monterrey. Mainly flat country except for the hills rising to about 3000' over the last few miles. Ignacio Del Muro lives here, Hi Ignacio. Immediatly after leaving here there will be a climb over mountains that top out over 11,000' in some spots. Looking forward to seeing it all.

Departed Monterrey and headed towards Guardalajara via all the major mountain peaks I could locate to the west of track finally landing short at MMZC, Zacatecas. Had to get up to 13 grand to stay well clear of the granite, an interesting flight.

It has been a long time coming but I have finally arrived in Guardalajara after many delays on the domestic scene not the least of which was felling a very large tree that was too close to our house and was forming the habit of dropping the odd branch. Such an object arriving at speed from 80 feet up can ruin your whole day if you happen to be at ground zero. I have partly done the huge amount of work needed to convert it into firewood for 2014.
I beat up the general area of Lou's hacienda but as I still cannot pin point it in GE, I had to empty the toilet tank after I landed. The luck of the Ross's I guess.
The flight from MMZC was over some nice mountainous country at FL120 in clear air. Funny thing that, all the air has been clear since I first set out from Seattle so long ago. I hope this is not the onset of a drought !!
Ok so it would seem that this is the end of visiting all the past and present forum members in North America who own up to living near something. But no!, there is one more , Ron Jorgensen of Toughman Challenge fame who, when last heard of, was living just south of Leguna de Chapala. I fancy he was out behind Tizapan El Alto somewhere. The only strip in that area is MM1P, not right on the money but near enough.
So Buenos Amigos de despedida, estoy en salir de aquĆ. I fancy having a look at Madagascar. Lookout Ron I'll swing by on the way to Brazil via Machu Pichu.

This odessy around North America has not been the quickest of undertakings. I calculate that I have achieved an average speed of 55 nautical miles per day, well within bicycle capability even with me at the pedals.
I have flown from Guadalajara to Venustiano Carranza, MM1P, a strip near the eastern end of Lake Chapala and the only one in the vicinity of Ron Jorgensen's old haunt. This completes the visitations. Interesting thing about MM1P is that it is closed. Google Earth shows it marked with white crosses although the locals don't seem to worry as there is one aicraft visible. I found it to be in perfect condition !!
Well, what to do next? While coming to a decision about that I have moved to Mexico City, MMMX where I will most likely leave the trusty 'Golden Eagle' and swap to something different. I have a yen to look at Madagascar and I'd like to fly there. This opens up a lot of options and they are what I am looking at. Good fun.

Maddagascar , what an interesting choice . it is like a land time forgot as far as animals and plant life is concerned and never heard of in the news. I would never have thought of flying there..

Madagascar sounds like fun. I've fininhed my project and should have more flying time again. I've been flying Scaled Composites' Boomerang, it flies pretty good "out of the box". I'm about 4 hours out of FIMP. so if you have a schedule let me know. Allen
