I missed the last couple of GAAR's but it is good to be back in the saddle again. It is fun to see 'the old gang' gathering one more time to celebrate the good fellowship that permeates this annual event.
Here's to another smashing (no pun intended) good time down under.
And away we go!!!

Hello Guys,
Was wondering if someone could help with the installation of FTimeV4 in the MJ C-47. This aircraft does not have a 2d panel and I cannot get it to show correctly.
Help would be appreciated.
Thanks DCA1105

Hi dbutterf. This might help.
Are you on FSX? Anyway it sounds as if you have previously installed the FTime on a 2D panel. I guess 3D is the same but I'm not familiar with your C-47. Had a look though and it looks brilliant. I assume you have put the gauges file into your FSX gauges folder and the problem is just getting the gauge onto your 3D panel ... You may have several VC partial panels in your panel.cfg folder, [Vcockpit01], [Vcockpit02] etc, and you need to put something like this into one of them:
gaugexx=Digital!FTime, 250, 110, 110, 55
where xx is next in sequence, the first two figures control the position of the gauge/timer on that panel, and the last two figures the size of the timer. Once you can see your timer somewhere in one of your 3D panels you can adjust the figures to get it where you want at the right size. I could only do it by trial and error, and eventually found it up on the overhead - wrong [Vcockpitxx] and silly shape, but at least a starting point.
Best of luck.
See you in Wollongong.

Help would be appreciated. Thanks DCA1105 Dayle, The easiest and simplest option is to create the Timer as a pop-up window. I tend to have mine set for a particular corner of the screen. The only minor issue with this is you have to remember to have the Timer pop-up window open on your take-off roll for the Timer to start. If need be, I can provide you with the an example entry for your panel.cfg file. I am not on my FS computer at the moment, so let me know if you need any more help. Cheers Andrew

Hi Folks!
Came a bit late to the Rally this year. But I'm here with the good old DC-3 Dakota and hope to take some video along the way!
Looking forward to it.
Take care,
Regards,

Uh, Andrew, My Target Times and Results page on the GAAR website shows nothing under the heading. Did you use invisible type? Or can I pick my own target times? Help.

Ready to go, test in and submitted, aircraft polished and beutiful, pilot not so polished. Look forward to another great rally. I missed putting a few hours in the virtual cockpit this past year and it is amazing that it is GAAR time again.

FLIGHT TIMER POP-UP WINDOW CODE
Dayle, Sean, et al,
The following code for the panel.cfg file places the Flight Timer as a pop-up window in the top left corner of the screen. I have created this in Manfred Jahn's C-47 V2.
1. Create a backup of the panel.cfg file. 2. Open the panel.cfg file in Notepad. 3. Under the [Window Titles] section, insert the following line, where xx is the next number in the sequence:
Windowxx=Timer
4. Scroll down to the current last entry ([Window06] in this case) and insert the following, it should be just above the [Vcockpit01] entry:
[Windowxx] size_mm=90,50 position=0 visible=0 ident=Timer gauge00=..\..\panel gauges\Digital Timer!FTime, 0,0,90,50
5. Make sure the xx number corresponds with [Window Titles] entry above. 6. Save the file. 7. If you have FSX open and the aircraft loaded / selected, you will need to reload the aircraft for the changes to take affect.
Important Note. I use the Timer in a number of different aircraft, so I place the Timer files in a dedicated folder under the following folder structure, FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes\panel gauges\Digital Timer\. This is important because of the gauge00= line entry in the code. If you place the files elsewhere, you will have to alter the gauge00= entry accordingly.
If the gauge is too big or too small, adjust the 90 and 50 entries in the size_mm= and gauge00= lines respectively until it suits. You will have to save the file and reload the aircraft each time as per Step 7 above.
Good luck! At least it makes sense to me, but just ask me any questions and I will try and get you there.
Cheers Andrew
