The Trek by air of the "Scottish Highlands and Islands" picks up where we left off at Tiree airport in Scotland's Inner Hebrides. I am flying aircraft of British manufacture or British descent. Have already flown a DH-1 Chipmunk, a DH-82 Tigermoth and am currently in a DHC-6 Twin Otter. The simulator is X-Plane 11.5 and the lovely scenery is ORBX True Earth. Departing from EGPU in Tiree headed north for the famous Barra (EGPR) airport, which normally has daily traffic from Glasgow, in Twin Otters. There is not much privacy for the pilots in this Twin Otter. Did we forget to load the passengers before we took off? These flights are usually full, and there are always some who want to experience landing and taking off on a beach. EGPR is the only commercial airport in the world with beach "tidal runways". There is the beach ahead. The terminal and sandway 33 are to the left, and behind that hill. Parked near the terminal at EGPR. Planning to leave before high tide covers the beach. Flew over this bevy of sailboats while departing Barra on my way to EGPL "Mind the Gap" is a common exhortation you hear as you enter or exit the trains in the UK. I don't mind the gap between these cloud layers, while northbound west of the islands of the Outer Hebrides. We have Just left the island of Barra, and are headed to Benbecula Island, home of EGPL. Closing in on Benbecula EGPL. Will spend the night here and enjoy the sunset. Take off early tomorrow in just a few hours.
