This weekend my girlfriend and I were in Seaside, Oregon and we came upon an arcade. We went in to see what kind of games there are these days, and I spotted a SEGA Flight Simulator that you sit in and it has a yoke, pedals, thrust levers, flip switches, and a triple monitor! I HAD to try it. After watching guys in line before me make sorry attempts at cruise and landing (none successful), I put in my 50 cents and took to the skies. It was some kind of passenger jet, maybe a 737. Anyway, I flew a circuit, and landed like a pro (the display had EFIS!). I made it look easy, much to the enjoyment of those watching! Great fun!!!

Good for you Jerry, I hope you looked slightly bored with the whole business.
I have not seen that Sega console. I must have a look in the local game arcades. My No.1 son, Mike, makes a habit of whipping most of Australia driving Sega Rally and I can't get near him. Perhaps my turn is coming ;D

Cool. Just too cool. I mean you, Jerry! I had to Google search it, and sure enough, there's even video available showing it. It's a neat flight sim platform, now if we could just load our own aircraft in there.... Is the panel above active, or just for show?
I saw one posted for sale out of the UK for 6,000 uh, pounds. I guess that would be close to $9,000 in US dollars? Ouch!

This looks like the flightsim setup we've been dreaming of Some dedicated simmers use multiple monitors and some even build a panel complete with instruments that sync with FS or X-Plane. If I had a lot of money I might consider that. But then, if I had a lot of money I guess I'd rather get a private pilot license. An arcade game like this one might be more appropriate in a more serious flightsimming context, somewhere between the arcade category and a professional sim. A select group of simmers occasionally get to try a professional sim, one that is meant for commercial airline training. These sims cost millions of any currency and are for real pilot training only. There might be a market for good full flight deck sims that flight simmers could book for an hour or two.
