Well curiouser and curiouser, after posting the above I added a reply with sundry GAAR test flights made while selecting this year's aircraft. But it somehow disappeared, so here goes again..... First was perambulating round Europe in a Shorts Scion, but that would have taken a while. I blame a frozen runway, or was that frozen brakes, for this one. A Dove is an old favourite, but then I've used it before and there are still too many I haven't got round to. Now a York is a definite maybe for next year. But a Halifax C.VIII struggled with banging the tailwheel trying to get out of the shorter runways. I did think of a P40 for an X entry - not sre how accurate the landfiles are. So a Twin Pin it is for X. and for FS9 the Wayfarer is just right. then BOAC's most uncomfortable passenger carrier came in for some mods between the test and first flights to allow some 4,000lbs of vegemite concentrate to be carried along.
