Flew some Bluegrass flights in May. The first group for Feature of the Month Malayan Airways on the Eastern end of Borneo. The next group of pictures flying east along the Florida Gulf Coast. Flying in the DH-89 Dragon Rapide Turning final to WBKK In my DH-80 Puss Moth along the Florida coast, flying north of KPAM Tyndall AFB Looking back at KPAM Going to be flying in Canada now for awhile on the Feature of the month Canada By Rail Hop List.

Frazer River near Chilliwack BC Downwind for RW8L Vancouver Intl. Final for RW8L Touching down. For this leg I used the 1948 daylight schedule leaving Calgary at 7:35 am Aircraft is the Canadair North Star.

Departing Monckton New Brunswick. Just north of here is Shediak which was a stop for the Pan Am Clipper between New York and Ireland. Over the Northumberland Strait. Confederation Bridge and Prince Edward Island Over waypoint at Charlottetown, PEI Over Baddeck, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. On February 23rd 1909 the first powered flight in Canada took off from the ice on Brass d' Or. The Aircraft was AEA Silver Dart designed by a US/Canadian Team. John Alexander Douglas McCurdy, Thomas Selfridge, Alexander Graham Bell, Glenn Curtiss, Frederick Walker Baldwin. The Silver Dart first flew in 1908 at Hammondsport NY. On Final RW25 Short Final for RW25 Sydney Nova Scotia

Newfoundland Ferry arriving at Sydney NS Departing Sydney, Nova Scotia Starting across the mouth of the Gulf of St Lawrence. Landfall at Port aus Basques, Newfoundland Stephensville, NL The 11,000' runway is the largest in Newfoundland. It was built for the US Army Air Corp in 1941 and named Stephenville Air Base. In 1948 the US Airforce named it Ernest Harmon Air Force Base. It was the largest US Air Force base outside of the United States. In 1966 it was transferred to the town of Stephnsville. Looking north toward Botwood, NL The airport is Exploits Valley/Botwood Regl. To the right just below the nose of the DC-3 was the location of the PanAM Clipper Base. Sign on road into Botwood NL PanAm Clipper base at Botwood NL Flights from here would go east to Foynes Ireland enroute to Southampton England. Westbound flight would fly to LaGuardia in New York City, sometimes stopping at Shediak, New Brunswick enroute. Other airlines using this terminal were Amercan Export and Imperial Airways. On final for RW21 at Gander Intl. Touching down.
