Thanks Bill, I unchecked DX-10 and sure enough all of my add on planes are painted. Now I get a black screen whenever I change screens (like going to the FS map). If I hit Ctrl-Alt-Del I get a green screen, then selecting Task Manager the map will pop up. Cancelling the map will get me back to the main screen. Running dxdiag shows that I have DX 10.1. What DX version are you finning? My Win 7 desktop has DX 11 and has no problems with FSX or FSX SE.

I have DX 11.2. I run FSX, FSX-SE, FS9 and CFS3 on Windows 10 with no problems. I run everything in Windows Mode vs Full Screen.

Hi Bill, Running in Windows Mode with DX-10 unchecked does the job! Many thanks.

Hi Bill, Well, maybe you can help me again. I was having trouble getting FS9 to load and I thought maybe something was wrong with disk 4. Allan Lowson sent me the no crack cd. See the copy, below, of the email I sent to Allan explaining my ongoing problem with FS9 and Win 10. Do you have any experience with a Win 10 conflict with FS9 and any suggestions on how to fix it? Thanks, Allen

Well, long story short, I've made some progress but still not out of the woods on FS9. It seems that there never was a problem with my FS9 or disk 4, just a conflict with Win10. My latest config. is a re-install of FS9 and using the no crack cd. The sim runs and then the screen goes black. Hitting the Windows key usually gets me back to the desktop with the FS9 icon in the bottom task bar. Then if I click on the icon a small window opens and if I hold the mouse pointer on that window then I see the normal FS9 screen. But if I move the mouse pointer I get back to the desktop. So it seems to me there is a conflict with Win 10.
I've been looking the Fly Away site forums, so far haven't found any solutions.

Allen
Sorry you're still having problems.
I got this from the CalClassics Site.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Have you tried tampering with the fs9.cfg? Normally it's located under users\[user]\appdata\roaming\microsoft\fs9. Load it and search for something like:
[DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce 8200M G .0] // your graphics card here Mode=1440x900x32 <-- check if resolution is supported by your video device MipBias=8 AntiAlias=1 <-- make it a 0 (zero) and save.
See, if it worked. Alternatively, delete fs9 or rename it to fs9_bk.cfg or something like that, and let FS9.exe create a fresh fs9.cfg at a new start.
Another option: Start FS9 in the window mode and set up graphics settings supported by your system. To do so, open fs9.cfg, search for
[GRAPHICS] FULL_SCREEN=1 <-- make it a 0 (zero) and save -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm not sure this will help, but it's worth a shot. My setup works fine in Windowed mode with no compatability tweaks. I also run FS9 as an Administrator.

Hi Bill, thanks for your reply and suggestions. I did all the things you suggested. The [DISPLAY.Device... was correct and I made [GRAPHICS] Full_Screen a 0. That did not help, in fact FS changed Full_Screen back to 1. I had some luck renaming fs9 and starting the sim. I actually got the free flight load screen and selected the 172 and got it on the runway but in full screen mode. Could not get to windowed mode to change settings. Does Ctrl+Alt get windowed mode in fs9? It does in fsx, can't remember if I tried that in fs9 or not. So I'm giving it a rest for a while. I've been flying mostly fsx se lately, it seems to be more stable than fsx. I've moved most of the planes that I like to fsx se, even ones from fs9 - as long as there are no gauge issues. So thanks again, have a good day. Allen
