A Merry Christmas to one and all, and thanks for your participation through the year. It seems that Norad will start tracking Santa at 0700 GMT, so still time to get off the naughty list, or perhaps not! I hope you have a joyful day and also a great New Year. www.noradsanta.org/Cheers, Allan

May be tooooo much Christmas cheer,
As many of you may know I like to fly my aircraft as realistically as possible after all my years in real world aviation.
So today I thought a nice short flight around 90 minutes from Brisbane YBBN to Mackay YBMK using the PMDG B737-800, a favorite of mine because of its complexity.
Well after around 10- 15 minutes of compiling the real world route ,SIDS and STARS and airport information at both ends, I proceeded to my 737 in the cold and dark state.
Went through all the procedures relative to the aircraft , FMC, Ground Power through to APU and then push back with engine start, all went as it should be ready to taxi to runway 19.
Applied break away power with the tiller on hard left and bolted straight ahead through the terminal building instead, wrote off KFC, McDonnals and the baggage pick up area, what went wrong with this stupid sim ? Well, absolutely nothing, in my haste I had not turned on the hydrolic pumps therefore no steering or flight controls.
Okay, so now it's 15 pages of data to fill out for the ATSB and a bent B737, you may see this on Aircrash Investigation next year.
My point is how accurate our modern sim's are becoming and if you are flying the higher end aircraft do not deviate from the procedures, that's how real world accidents happen.
Have a great 2018 guys and girls. Rob

Well, Rob, it does take a highly experienced retired airline pilot flying the PMDG B737-800 in a state of the art sim to plow into the terminal, write off KFC, McDonnals and the baggage pick up area. ;-) Me, I just crash without doing too much damage to the local mountains. Happy New Year and keep 'em flying. Allen
