67 years ago today, Pearl Habor was attacked by planes from 6 Japanese aircraft carriers. Most of our pacific fleet battleships were destroyed or severely damaged. Many lives were lost. If it were not for the fact that our aircraft carriers were not in port, the pacific war could have been lost on the first day. On this day I honor those who served in the military then along with those who serve today. Thank you for your service. Check out this new web-site: go.footnote.com/wwii/

I was just 7 years old on that day. I remember my grandfather being quite upset, but I didn't really understand what was going on. Just a weekly newspaper in my small Nebraska hometown, and, of course, no TV. Just radio, so we couldn't see how bad it was for some time. My favorite uncle enlisted in the Army Air Force. He served as a mechanic on P-38s and P-40s in the Aleution Islands for a couple of years. Fortunately, he survived the war. Here's to all of those who served and are serving.
