Continuing the trip into Idaho and going to spend a little time in and around Cour d'Alene, (KCOE) the city and the airport. KCOE known in rememberence of the US marine aviator Pappy Boyington - ever heard of the Black Sheep Squadron? So, let's get going - departing 9S4 Mineral County, Superior. Flying in a North American SNJ-5, a naval variation of the AT-6 trainer, fighter, and all round useful WWII and following decades, aircraft. Pappy flew and became well known for his time as a marine aviator for the Pacific fleet, and for downing many Japanese fighters, in his F4U Corsair. This aircraft from MSFS 2020 iS modeled after an existing aiecraft which has upgraded navigational instrumentation.. We are still following Hwy 90 and the river through the valleys on our way to KCOE. These are convenient places to put airports. S83 (Shoshone Co Kellogg, Idaho) is ahead, our first stop Departing Shoshone Co and headed to 6101 Regan Ranch. Somwhere ahead is Regan Ranch as I approach from the east. Is it that green grass short strip? No it wasn't I didn't even see the aristrip as I passed over. Approaching from the west I find the runway but am too high for a stop. So I consider this airstrip visited, and move on to KCOE Pappy Boyington Field In just a few minutes I am flying into a large valley which is in part Coeur d'Alene Turning final for KCOE Couer d'Alene Airport - Pappy Boyington Field I spent a few minutes playing with the clock and the 2020 drone camera Not sure it is visible to you, but the sky was dark enough to be able to see the Milky Way. Cheers until next time.
