LEG 3About 30 nm inbound Dili, some turbulence shakes our plane and starting to rain, fortunatly no thunderstorm and keep having VMC. Performing left basic patern for rwy 08 approach. Leg 2: Entering Melville Island after crossing the Van Diemen Gulf. This is where good flight preparation pays off: had no trouble finding Garden Point airfield, using Snake Bay airport and inlets as landmarks. Turning base here. LEG 3Back-tracking the sandy runway at Garden Point before take-off. -- lining up. Pew!! with only a few meters to spare,we were able to pull this heavy bomber in the air. We carry 3600 lbs of goods for Dili, and are some ounces over MTOW for this little strip... Outbound from the mainland for East Timor. Paul GAAR 14
