There are some add-on sceneries for fs9 that I'd use, except that they say they require Gerrish Gray's trees: trees_v3.zip. The problem for me is the procedure is very complicated- many files have to be elliminated from various parts of fs9. I'm not going to do that. What happens if I just install the scenery without the Gerrish Gray trees? Would the scenery work fine except the Gray trees wouldn't be there, would fs crash? thanks, lr.

You will probably get white squares where the trees should be

Hi The fear of making A mess of flight sim Can BE reduce by Zip the folder that your going to change. Ziping make a backup of all the files, you can name it and place an under score in front of the name, the zip file will then be on top. if you do not like your change, just delete all but the zip, click on the zip your back where you started. I used a tool called FREEZIP, do a Google.
Gerrish tree was made for FS2002. I have never found those files names in fs9, I just put the ( FS2002.zip files ) in the fs9 main texture folder, AFTER YOU ZIP IT. and put the ( Scenery.zip Trees_0.bgl ) in addon scenery\scenery folder

Thanks for your replies. The Gerrish Gray treel file for fs2002 also goes into fs9. However, according to the instructions, there are many files that have to be elliminated in order to avoid possible conflicts. lr.

Okay, now I think I understand what you're saying- those files don't exist, so just install the Gray trees as normal. I'll give it a shot. lr.

I installed these trees a long time ago since many scenery addons use them. If you fail to install them you'd hardly get white blocks or other anomalies. The reason is that the model as well as the texture would be missing and FS just skips missing models. On the other hand, if you were to install the tree models and misplaced the textures you'd get white trees.
