Got me a new computer with windows 7 and I like it except for one problem. In FS9, I can not save the cfg files if I make any changes to them. Anybody know how to do that in windows 7 ?

You mean the fs9.cfg files? Is this when you edit them or when you close FS9? If the later try running FS9 as administrator - right click, run as Admin. Although you should be able to write to that directory. How did you install FS9 - using an Administrator account?

I found a work-around for the problem of changing cfg files. Copy the cfg file and paste it outside of FS9, for instance, in Documents, make your changes, save it, then put it back in the folder you took it out of. Works ok.

These messages have been moved from another topic.

I'm glad to see that Ed Wells and Bill Hendrix are having an easy transition to W7 as I am about to take the leap from my old pirate XP with which I am very happy, although I do feel a little out in the cold as far as the William Gates Esq organisation is concerned.
Has anyone any experience of problems? Hopefully it will be a happier transition than Vista was, I tried that one, Oh Yes!

I have the same problem with trying to save cfg files. There has to be a way to do that.

Found a way. Copy or move the cfg file to a place outside FS9, make your changes, then put it back where you got it from. Works ok.

Dont tell me windows 7 (or la porta de siete )! doesnt have the high tech app. called Notepad? If not, why not. And in any case you would be able to get a copy of Notepad out there somewhere and just open the config with that. Otherwise you would do it the way bill posted. Considering that FS is an 'old' microsoft product, you would think they would have thought of it. They certainly are making simple things harder! I have read a bit about W7 and not much is different. It is majorly gui. In other words a fresh coat of paint cheers all
