Well, we just finished Leg 10, and I and my trusty co-Joe and cheering section (the Missus) want to thank alcon for producing a truly excellent event in the 2010 GAAR.
- Thanks to Bill Von Sennet for sponsoring and providing the venue for this wonderful event;
- Thanks to Tom Goodrick for his marvelous timer (which made things so much easier for us all), and for his astute number crunching;
- Thanks to Todd Whitehead for his excellent PIREP system, which worked a treat throughout;
- Thanks to John Lawlor for the nice touch with the fireworks; and
- Special thanks to Andrew Godden for all the hours of sweat and tears in handling the pointy end of the entire enterprise! Andrew's relaxed, laissez-faire attitude made an outstanding event all the more fun, and I'm sure we're not alone in greatly appreciating his sometimes Sisyphean efforts in providing such great enjoyment.
Happily, I managed to involve my Missus in the WR09, and thus she was an eager and willing participant in this, our first GAAR. For a n00b navigator, she's proven herself to be first class, producing some very nice times for us. And hence, for me, her happy involvement in my "reclusive" hobby has perhaps been my greatest reward.
Cheers to all. See you next year!

I'll second all those "thank you" comments. My second GAAR and, although my better half doesn't join me, she now accepts with good humour that I have a "strange" hobby. Time to get the Dove back to UK and look forward to next year. In the meantime, "Happy Flying" to all.

Really enjoyed the GAAR this year. I have always flown the GAAR using FS9 until this year. This year I used FSX and the scenery was so much better in FSX. Thanks to all that worked for this event.

I would like to add my thanks to all involved for a great rally. Having to travel half way around the world to participate, I totally enjoyed every minute.
Thanks again and I hope to join the GAAR2011.

It was the first time I tried the GAAR as pilot. Well, not so bad I think... And I have now all a year to find a good plane, practice landing in strange, unusual, and aussie conditions, and learn to be at the right airport at the right time. So, Merci beaucoup for the organisation, au revoir, mademoiselle et messieurs. Next year I'll try to be more than silver ! (I Dunno what, maybe copper ?) (remember to protect the earth : it's our alone source of chocolate !)

I had to adjust to trying to meet a time for each leg but that made it more fun! Thanks to Andrew and all the others who put in the time and effort to make GAAR 2010 so good. And thanks to them for taking time when they were very busy to help a pilot new to the GAAR! Fantastic bunch at BGA.
