HELP: Is anyone using FS9 under Win 7 I am trying to upgrade FS9 into Win 7. I have been using FSInn in XP and Vista successively. Loading FSInn in Win 7 it just will not function properly. I have found that FSInn has included the “ocx’s” that it uses in the FSFDT folder BUT they are just not being registered in WIN 7. I have stumbled around like a blind hog and found a couple of acorns. I located the “Comct2.ocx and the “comdlg32.ocx” and using the regsvr32 have these successively registered. Now the next two, “VATSIMVL.ocx” and the “SoundControl.ocx” do not seem to like being registered. No way! In trying to fly and open FSCockpit/FSInn gives the error message Vatsimvl.ocx is missing OK. The FSInn control panel is on the screen but the FS has disappeared into the systray. I try clicking it but another message box comes up saying that it is setting up the aircraft I waited on something to finish for over an hour. Gave up and started to hit the Alt-Ctl-Del keys to end the mess. I hit the Alt key first and the FS jumped up ready to go ?? It has the FSInn control panel up and operating. I doubt that I will be able to use VATSIM and I have no idea what’s with the sound thingy but I think the FSInn control panel can be used as I loaded the setup data Aok If anyone has information on registering these ocx’s in Win 7 please advise BGAN063 Bud Lane

Bud, with my old standby 2000 Dell system with its Win98 OS groaning and moaning, the last thing I need to hear is that flying with Win 7 is going to be even more difficult than with Vista. Time to do a rebuild on the Dell system and keep that software going.
Sorry I can't help.

Ditto what Tom said. I don't use FS9 anymore, and I'm using FSX on a Windows 7 64 bit platform. I don't even know what FSInn is.
I keep my FSX installation really simple. Mostly stock except for airplanes. Windows 7 is a fine OS.

Hello gang, it's been a while I haven't used FSInn but it seems that there may be some challenges irrespective of OS. Here's a couple of useful websites: www.vatsim.net/pilots/pilotsclients/fsinn/forums.vatsim.net/viewforum.php?f=43Vista as well as Win 7 typically interfere with proper installation of programs by refusing unauthorized programs to run. That unauthorized program may be a subunit of the suite you seem to be installing correctly. Thus it may appear to install yet parts of the install routine may be skipped. Try to run the installer in absolute administrator mode. Regarding reinstalling FSInn the website warns you about several steps to take to clean out the previous install. The order of events is crucial too: " If you have previously installed FSInn and you want to do a new install over the old pack, you first have to uninstall FSInn, and FSCopilot completely AND clean the Windows Registry of the database. Only edit your registry if you feel confident to do so. Scan for "FSFDT. First install FSCopilot, the installation process more runs automatically. In a second step install FSInn. During the installation process you will be asked for your name and your VATSIM data. After the installation, you will find FSInn in the menu of your Flight Simulator. On the first start, expect a scan of your aircraft folder. FSInn is building up the list of aircrafts to display for the traffic around you. If you have installed some AI traffic packs, FSInn will use this package too".

Hey guess what ?? I found my problem. You have to have the latest version of FSUIPC installed and then FSInn all runs as it is supposed to. Thanks all for your input and advice.
