Happy Holidays from the snowy Heart of Dixie. We awoke yesterday to a white Christmas which is very dangerous when you live on the side of a hill. We have seen snow here about six or seven times in 21 years. We got 2-3" of wet snow. But now a day later most is still here covered by ice. We're not going anywhere. It's a good time to practice flights to the Bahamas.
This season of good will was spoiled a bit for me this morning. I was PHISHED and I phell phor it! I was making an entry to the other side of thise Forum when suddenly a box appreared in the center of the page saying it was anotice from Net Gear that their serve required that I prove my identity or the router would shut down. There was a blank for my USER ID and Password. I know little about routers. I've had mine for ony two months. So I tried to enter the info as best I could remember. The square stayed on the screen with the elemnts still blank. So dummy me entered another common user name and pass word. This had no effect. They were still phishing for whatever they could get.
I dropped off the internet and waited a bit. It dawned on my I still had internet access because the music never stopped in my ears. But I lost what I was entering to the Forum. Later in the day my son Craig came by and I told him about it. His response was "That was Phishing. You didn't give them anythiing did you?"
Happy happy holidays.
Edit: Correction - that was not phishing. I must have brushed a key that brought that response from my router. I saw the same interruption days later when my son Scott was trying to set up FTP on my router so I could pass files between my computers.
