Yves Rossy, a Swissair airbus pilot, has another identity. As "FUSIONMAN", he has just crossed the English Channel using a strapped-on jet-propelled flying wing, following the route taken by Louis Bleriot in 1909. Unlike M. Bleriot's aircraft, Fusionman has not managed to take off under his own power yet, so was taken up to 10000' over Calais before starting his own flight. As his navigation equipment consisted of a pair of Eyeballs, Mk 1, and a helmet-mounted radio-altimeter, he then had to follow the launch aircraft across, before landing by parachute near the South Foreland lighthouse. See news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7637327.stm for his arrival in England or www.jet-man.com/prod/index.html.
