Unlike Fusionman's feat, this is to be made in the opposite direction, from Hythe, Kent, to Wissant, by a Frenchman using a pedal-powered(!) blimp.

Unfortunately, with the intrepid Stephane Roussont about 11 miles short of Wissant, the wind turned against him, and as an altitude of less than 100' in one of the world's busiest shipping lanes is not a safe place to hover, he was forced to retire, to seek further funding and a less windy day. By a happy coincidence, on the same day, one of the UK's terrestrial channels was showing "The Great Race" which includes the dastardly Professor Fate (Jack Lemmon) and his assistant Max (Peter Falk) using a pedalled-powered airship.
