Cabin Lights

Does anyone know how a plane that has obvious cabin lights at night can be fixed to turn the lights on or off Huh
Especially when the plane has a switch labeled "CabinLights". The cabin lights come on and off with the landing lights. Crazy I know. Any answers appreciated

Hi Bud, MH Luke here. Thought I'd give you my two cents worth on this subject. Bear in mind I'm by no means knowledgeable on the subject. This lighting has to do with the aircraft model, making it work and or changing it has to be done in GMAX,(or possibly in FSDS) ie; modeling software, I'll quote a little paragraph out of a GMAX virtual cockpit lighting tutorial. (the cabin and the aircraft model are also 3D or virtual I believe). The paragraph..... "First and formost is the question of control. In FS2002 and FS2004 the Alpha channel of a lightmap determined which "electrical circuit" controled the lighting: pure white(RGB:255,255,255) assigned control to the landing light switch. Pure black (RGB:0,0,0,) assigned control to "any other switch."" end of quote. I have played with GMAX a little but haven't gotten anywhere yet. I know this doesn't help but thought I'd try and give you an idea of what your up against. MH Luke

Hello Mr. Luke
I have found on the net some info on the Alpha Channel thingy,,, but it is about as ambiguous as anything I have ever read. Makes no sense at all,,,, to me that is.
I have downloaded a program DXTmdb the displays the Alpha Channel and mine was black and when I changed it to White the Cabin Light Switch could turn the Cabin lights on even if the Landing lights were off. Of course if any other light switch “nav, beacon etc” were turned on the cabin lights came on as well. I can not seem to isolate these blooming cabin lights Huh?
It is not such a big issue but a person would think that if all the documentation calls out cabin lights and the plane builder went to the trouble to include a switch for these lights you should be able to make them work. Oh well no big loss I guess,
Thanks a big bunch for your input.
