Just a few small shots to accompany my latest pirep. I rarely do screenshots, cause I'm still in FS9 and my graphics just don't compare with the new stuff, but I still enjoy flying, even if my PC can't handle FSX (It's just sitting on the shelf). Today's PIREP was: "Bluegrass Charter in my personal DHC-2 Beaver from Birmingham AL to Shoals Creek AL - Off airport landing on a gravel bar - great camping and fishing spot near the AL46 SPB is a frequent destination in FSE - Shoals Creek is a tributary to the Tennessee River near Florence AL." Since last year when I flew for Bluegrass, I've downsized my FSE fleet in a major way. I only have 4 aircraft now, and my DHC-2 has been re-registered as BGAK091 (my Bluegrass callsign). This will be my Bluegrass "persona". Wherever that plane goes I will report to Bluegrass... less confusion that way (for me). Anyway... if I refer to N827D or BGAK091 I mean THIS aircraft. I've talked about it before on this forum I believe. It represents a specific 1955 DeHavilland Beaver construction number 827 which served with the US Army and with Air America then came up "missing" in the real world. I "found" it in FS9 and continue to fly it... On the ground at KBHM Birmingham AL In flight on the way to Shoals Creek AL Flying into the "mouth" of Shoals Creek off of the Tennessee River Landed at AL46 Shoals Creek AL Route of flight in FSE... strictly VFR at 2500 MSL navigating by GPS and "mark 1 eyeball" Fun Flying!

My trusty DeHavilland Beaver N827D broke down at AL46 Shoals Creek AL (for "real" in FSE) so I was prohibited from hauling passengers or cargo, but I got a One Time Movement Authorization to take it over to my own repair facility at KTUP Tupelo MS (where I own Westridge Flying Service FBO in FSE). Just over $1400 worth of repairs later and "27 Delta" is ready to go again! I'll try to get some photos on the next hop.

I "flew" a re-creation of Kingsford Smith's trans-Pacific flight. It took just under eighty hours flying time but, since a lot (all actually) was over water, I used 4x speed and an "electronic Charles Ulm", so I'm not logging it here. I took the data from a book written by "Smithy" after the flight, which included entries in Ulm's log. The sim was pretty accurate, my total time being 79:17, against a real of 83:11. These shots are from the long leg from Hawaii to Suva (Fiji). Sunrise, first day out. Finals for the cricket pitch in Suva, 31:16 since take-off. (ignore the timer; it wasn't all flown in one go.)
