Early in the morning on the apron at Newmen (YNWN). Ready for a test- and cargo-ride to Paraburdoo (YPBO) The C-117 is a "so-and-so" aircraft. At least engine #1 is running.. Wind from the south, so easy taxiing to rwy 23 At the holding-bay rwy 23, ready for departure. Finally airborne. Going up to 6000ft AMSL and travelling west. Everything is fine - so leave the engines running! Time to think about the RNAV-approach YPBO. Inbound to IF PBOEI rwy 24 Final check completed and gear down. Short final rwy 24 - no ATC, so feel free to land! Bingo!! Final conclusion. The FSX C-117 is NOT an easy aircraft to handle. Everything must go according to the checklist, otherwise a dismal failure. Cheers Urs

does anyone have solutions to not getting the cargo door closed properly? I've tried "shift E" and it opens and closes the man door. This is the C46 file originally in FS2004 and it worked fine ther but now in FSX I have this problem. If I change aircraft the go back to original it is good until I go for an outside view and the stupid door cracks open slowing down the aircraft.

Tried that as well Bill and all it does is shut that little door. It turned out the door partially open was due to an error with the cowl flap control coming from a DC6 I was able to do a work around by changing the line in the cfg file over to my F4U cowl flap line and now the door stays closed. Years ago I was actually in a C46 that the cargo door cracked open like this with a full load of cargo. Not a nice feeling at all. There was some shorts changed afterwards. As well found out that it was why the company actually had short lock down chains on the back doors to prevent a full opening in flight.
