Hey folks fellas and females, check this out. The ONLY scheduled DC-3 service in the southern hemisphere. I'd be interested to know of ANY others, anywhere............................ www.airchathams.co.nz/dc3-flights/flight-back-in-time/ I have my goonie in NZAA ready to do a few of the flights

That would be a wonderful Flight , especially at the cost. I will always remember the flight I had from Houston Texas to Ft. Polk on a Texas Airways DC-3 in 1967 , loved every minute of it Especially the engine start up an the passenger on the window hollering "we are on fire" from the smoke, He had never seen a old radial start before.

Yes David, the startup can be great. I used to like night flying in the DC-6. Get a window seat aft of the wing and watch the exhausts on takeoff and climb power, plenty of spectacular fireworks all the way until cruise when it went dark.

Ed, That DC-3 service no longer operates. The only DC-3 left in NZ that can carry passengers on tours and charters is ZK-DAK operated by FlyDC3NZ out of Ardmore. i have just returned from a 12 day tour of the NZ north and South island, flying each day in DAK from port to port. Fantastic and nostalgic trip.

From what I've seen of NZ in movies, and having flown all around it in flightsim, it looks like great flying.
