I'm currently on my way from Brampton to Fredericton and I'm tracking via Quebec and Riviere du Loop as I presume, the event being a nationalistic thing, it's polite to stay in Canadian airspace.
The weather started very poorly with thunderstorms and poor visibility. The Cb activity I don't mind, but not being able to see the countryside is a real p*off, so I eventually set up some decent WX using the RW winds and I'm happily back to neck stretching.
The Brampton hangar party was great with some good music but I did no good with the raffles.

I made it to Fredericton today, started out at 5500' with RW but soon ran out of space so I went up to see just how high the clouds were. Topped out at 9500', stayed there for a while, then decided to let down to 5500' to see if I could get under the overcast. If not, it would be back to Fair Weather. I didn't want to get too much lower than that since there were some bumps up to almost 3000' in the area. Broke out at 5500', but still pretty hazy so I went down to 5000', the visibility was better and I could steer around any peaks that looked close. By the time I was past Millinocket I was down to 3000' but that was OK. I did use the ILS approach to Fredericton. This has been an interesting event. Allen

well l am in marathon. funny thing, it looks like east tennessee outside my window. pardon the humor but i've been up all night. after a fuel stop in thunder bay, where fog from the lake had visibility down to 1/2 mile, the rest of the flight was uneventful. have left the green route of the old radio range, now navigating from ndb to ndb in the old -3.
on to the sault!!!!

I landed at Sydney NS about 30 minutes ago after a low level flight under the cloudbase and about 5 to 10 mile viz. A shame too as the coastal scenery is spectacular, what I could see of it.
I'l give Baddeck the once over tomorrow. Although the grass field they mention is a no show in FS there should be a bit of flat stuff to perch on.

I have finished Leg # 7. I am in Sidney. I think I will take the shuttle to Baddeck. ;D I am going back and re-fly Leg # 1. I will do it with the Cessna Bobcat instead of the DC-3. I have learned to land the Bobcat better. I was landing too hot due to the conversion of knots to MPH. I was landing at knot speed instead of MPH speed. I am used to the "Big Iron" and their higher landing speeds and them using knots instead of MPH! This has been a lot of fun. There are some monthly features on the BGA website which are fun too. ROB J, you might look at them also. Just don't do Congo Canyon, it will drive you crazy like I am! Keep them flying! Bob

greetings form brampton ontario. today was another ifr day. solid at 5k for most of the way. landed about 2015 lcl. on final for 33 sun was aout 11:00. guess the difference in latitude between home and here accounts for this.
tomorrow it is on to fredricton, after a fuel stop in sherbrooke
may all your flights be cavu and all your landings greasers

I landed at a "grassy place" somewhat north of Baddeck after a short flight from Sydney. Look at the GPS display to get an idea of where I landed. N46* 8.33', W60* 47.32', somewhat close to the airstrip. Allen

tonight i am in fredricton new brunswick. i guess wednesday's leg to sydney will be my last since it sounds like the Baddeck NS airport can not handle the 3.
Lets go to sydney.

I flew to Baddeck and, wanting to get as near as possible to the A.G.Bell museum setup, I landed on a nearby road. Now it happens that this road is a major one in the Baddeck area and if FS showed the town at all there would have been a highway patrol to give me a really hard time. As it was I had the woods to myself and parked the Cessna out of the way.
As the first flight was off the frozen lake it was a trifle difficult to repeat the performance in summer so I did a brief 'water ski' in salutation to the pioneers. Not too hard if you keep the speed up and the water is flat. I learned that from some South Africans who put on a great show in a gaggle of Harvards (T6s).
Now it may be time to do Allan Lowson's NY-Miami Connie flight but first I may just wander down the Appalachians in something slow.

I finished my re-fly of the first leg in the Cessna instead of the DC-3. This was a good collection of flights. I also learned a lot about flying the radio range. I may try this month's flight with a radio range aircraft. Right now I think I will go and fly my free flight with my C-97 for a while. I am in the Middle East with it and need to find a way back to my home base (KILN) from there. I try to find places I have never been to go to on these free flights.
Keep flying!

Not sure where I'm going next, I have several flights "on hold", I'll probably pick one of those. I still have to get my planes home from GAAR 09. Bob, how does radio range work? Allen
