Sorry - didn't mean to sound over anxious, was just wondering "out loud" .... trust the wedding went well, and family ALWAYS trumps everything. Many thanks for YOUR time in putting this all together, IT IS appreciated very much! Take your time, no rush! Nothing to apologise for, I took it in the way you intended. I can also understand the anticipation of wanting to see the results. By the way, the results page has now been updated. Cheers Andrew

Hi everyone,
Apologies for the delay in posting the recent results. I have had intermittent power outages here and each time it knocks out the internet for a day or so - just don't ask. I then had family commitments with my son's wedding from Thursday through the weekend.
The good news is, I am back, feet under the desk and desperately playing catch-up. I should have updated results for the earlier Flight Legs up by tomorrow and be all up to date by the day after at the latest.
I still haven't worked out how to prevent the real world from interfering in this obsession.
Cheers Andrew

Hi guy's, this is my first attempt at flying GAAR, and I am truly blown away with the screen shots, and especially Urs manipulation of the scenery. Have just completed leg 02 and much of the scenery is very similar to parts of South Africa. Really enjoying Ausie. As a guest, am I allowed to post screenshots of my flights? Len, Yes, even as a guest you should be able to post screen shots to this thread. To do this, you upload your screen shots to an image hosting site, such as Photobucket or ImageShack, and then copy and paste the Forum image link provided by the image hosting site into your post here. If you need any more help, just ask. Cheers Andrew

FLIGHT TIMER POP-UP WINDOW CODE
Dayle, Sean, et al,
The following code for the panel.cfg file places the Flight Timer as a pop-up window in the top left corner of the screen. I have created this in Manfred Jahn's C-47 V2.
1. Create a backup of the panel.cfg file. 2. Open the panel.cfg file in Notepad. 3. Under the [Window Titles] section, insert the following line, where xx is the next number in the sequence:
Windowxx=Timer
4. Scroll down to the current last entry ([Window06] in this case) and insert the following, it should be just above the [Vcockpit01] entry:
[Windowxx] size_mm=90,50 position=0 visible=0 ident=Timer gauge00=..\..\panel gauges\Digital Timer!FTime, 0,0,90,50
5. Make sure the xx number corresponds with [Window Titles] entry above. 6. Save the file. 7. If you have FSX open and the aircraft loaded / selected, you will need to reload the aircraft for the changes to take affect.
Important Note. I use the Timer in a number of different aircraft, so I place the Timer files in a dedicated folder under the following folder structure, FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes\panel gauges\Digital Timer\. This is important because of the gauge00= line entry in the code. If you place the files elsewhere, you will have to alter the gauge00= entry accordingly.
If the gauge is too big or too small, adjust the 90 and 50 entries in the size_mm= and gauge00= lines respectively until it suits. You will have to save the file and reload the aircraft each time as per Step 7 above.
Good luck! At least it makes sense to me, but just ask me any questions and I will try and get you there.
Cheers Andrew

Uh, Andrew, My Target Times and Results page on the GAAR website shows nothing under the heading. Did you use invisible type? Or can I pick my own target times? Help. Allen, Do a page refresh, F5, or if that doesn't work, CTRL+F5. Cheers Andrew

Hello Guys, Was wondering if someone could help with the installation of FTimeV4 in the MJ C-47. This aircraft does not have a 2d panel and I cannot get it to show correctly. Help would be appreciated. Thanks DCA1105 Dayle, The easiest and simplest option is to create the Timer as a pop-up window. I tend to have mine set for a particular corner of the screen. The only minor issue with this is you have to remember to have the Timer pop-up window open on your take-off roll for the Timer to start. If need be, I can provide you with the an example entry for your panel.cfg file. I am not on my FS computer at the moment, so let me know if you need any more help. Cheers Andrew

OK, so I down loaded the required files, but all I got was the .flt and .wx files, no .pln files. Just to be sure, I tried it twice, no joy. HELP! Don Don, As Allan said, we make the pilots in the GAAR earn their keep and do their own flight planning. This way, when they get it wrong, they can't blame me. In all seriousness though, the GAAR has a major focus on navigation skills and this is part of the challenge. So based on the Flight Briefings, the pilot has to do the flight planning, as they would in the real world, and then fly the route trying to achieve as close as possible to the Target Time. Cheers Andrew

Hi all. New to all this, so first question ... I had a close look at the first day's challenge, and I get the bit about noting the times on Flight Leg 2 because the clock stops and you need the totals in the PIREP for the day, but presumably I will need to do the same after Flight Leg 1 and add all 3 times for the day's total??? I look forward to seeing rattler1's Bev in FSX. That tip earlier for moving the .cfg file onto desktop to mod before returning it to the aircraft folder has always been the easiest way for me in FSX, but well worth saving a copy first! I've got 2 weeks to ferry my C-46 all the way out to OZ from Hay River in Canada's Northern Territories. Buffalo Joe has let me borrow one for a couple of months. I have 2 crews and a load of spares on board so ought to make it in time. Made the first leg to Alaska west coast yesterday .... Dave, You file an individual PIREP for each Flight Leg. The dates and times associated with each Flight Leg in the Flight Briefing document merely provide a chronological base to the "storyline". Notes regarding noting the time during Flight Leg stages relate specifically to mandatory fuel stops in which the FTime program stops below 35 kts. So you must add the sub sector times of the Flight Leg to get your total PIREP time. Also, thanks to John for adding some clarification. Cheers Andrew
