I'll check out XP11! Sounds interesting, Allen! Right now I am not myself! BTW, does anybody happen to know my email address? It is something with " yandex .com ". The only other thing I can say is that the hjg, sorry, 727 is not good. The best 727, in fact, the best programmed airplane I've seen is the Dream Fleet 727. Sorry, but can't say anymore. Just woke up, alone, and am quite disorientated. lr.

Just curious, my computer has a Pentium dual core CPU, E6600, 3.06 GHz, with 4 GB RAM running Win 10 Home. Is it fast enough to run XP11?

My computer specs knowledge stops at the Go/ Start button, but my system is an i7 with 1060 nvidea card with a 27" monitor and with the XP default B737-800 in am getting 60-70 FPS , if that helps.
I have only had XP for 2 days, but what a fabulous sim and so far I would not go back to any of the other platforms. I did buy the DVD version and glad I did, saves a lot of digital downloading as it is a big program to install all the scenery.
Oz is a little bland at this stage although the major airports are quite good and accurate for gates, runways and taxi ways but with all the development going on and Orbx coming across to XP11 along with Just Flight I am sure our screens will be full very soon.
I probably sound like an XP rep, which I am not but so far this sim has just blown me into heaven.
Cheers Rob

I downloaded the xp11 demo, fiest impression I might be able to run it OK on my computer. Need to figure out how to get the controllers set up so I can fly the 172 without crashing.

I did the same, tried the demo first.
Once you get the hang of it the controller set up is very easy. I have Siatek stuff and XP picked up some of the functions left over from the P3 set up.
Just carefully follow the on screen information and you will soon get the hang of it.
I have 4 throttle levers for the big props and jets plus prop and mixture levers, with many buttons now calibrated for various functions plus on the keyboard.
When you get down the track a bit check out how to set your views instead of scrolling around by just using your num keypad numbers, fantastic for looking around the cockpit or down at the radios, overhead panel etc.
There are heaps of U-tube videos on all this stuff which I found was a good way to learn.
Have fun with your learning curve.

Making progress, got enough contols to take off from KSEA in the 172, fly around the Space Needle and land at Boeing field. Still need to figure out the brakes, can't find the parking brake. I had xp9, didn't like it too much, xp11 seems much better.

I like the way the aircraft handle in XP. Proper break away power, smooth taxi, take off flight and landing. My favourite for many years has been the B 737-800 and I am finding even the default XP 737 handles better and more realistic than the expensive PMDG version.
Now I have all my controls and buttons the way I want them so tomorrow I will download MJ's C-47 and and purchase PMDG 's DC-6 as an early Chrismas present, I must tell the better half about that before December 25.
Once all that is sorted it will be time to look into the eye candy scenery stuff. I found many recommended freeware airports and they have a program that is called Ortho something which you can overlay satellite images of the areas you like to fly.
All good fun and keeps the old brain active.

Downloaded and did a quick flight with MJ's C-47 for XP11, very nice and many improvements on the P3 version.
Not true to the real aircraft but this model has tail wheel steering which makes it nice and easy for getting out of those tight spots.
If you still wish to use differential engines and brakes to taxi just lock the tail wheel with the cockpit lever.

Hi Rob, When I finally figured out how to display frame rates I was disappointed to find them very low, 14 is about the best I can do. Flying the Stinson and the 172 around the Seattle area seems to work OK. I usually fly older single engine and two engine props, the C-47 is about as big as I go. So I'm thinking the sim will work OK around KCOE. Where did you get the C-47? In the mid 50s I was a radioman on a R$D-6R, Navy number 50746.

Hi Allen,
WOW, those frame rates must be disappointing for you, are you running Windows 10 ? Also are you running an i5 or I7 computer and what graphics card do you have ?
I am running an i7 with an nvidea 1060 graphics and producing around 50-60 FPS with the higher end aircraft and airport scenery.
I will post how to get the C-47 in the morning, so stand by.

I have an older Intel motherboard, the CPU is a dual core E6600 3.06 GHz with 4 GB RAM. I'm running WIN 10 64 bit home. The graphics card is a Radeon RX 460. (I get 56-60 FPS i FSX Steam.) Even with the low frame rates I like the way XP-11 works, much better than the XP-9 version I had before. I will know more when I get the DVD installed and see how it works around Coeur d'Alene. Of course, since I'm not getting good frame rates I can't see what I'm missing. I've had the above mother board for a while, and been wondering when I might have to do and upgrade.
