Just got back up and online in time for the GAAR 2013. So anyone know if we are going to be ble to hop around in some of our custom 4 engine jobs or should we all be looking at singles and twins. Choices, so many choices, so little time. Corsair, C46 Commando, Lancaster MKIII, or maybe a P38. HELP... I am so confused!

That would be different. Going slow in a high wing. The trip would be much longer but might just prove interesting. My next problem is getting there in time for the rally. Winnipeg Manitoba to Oz is a long way in a fast bird let alone a slow one.

I decided to go completely over to the dark side and now fly only FSX. Besides when my old system (10years) crashed it was time for a major upgrade also our son moved out and took his FS 2004 with him. CHILDREN, they just don't understand. I also looked at the YAK but if Cap't Zlogg shows up he might be miffed if a Canadian flys a russian bird.

I donot think the dates or time have been set yet, just trying to get aircraft and supplies to Austrailia and ready, before making a mad rush to get there and hual in stuff at the last minute and sleeping under the wing with the critters..

. . . My next problem is getting there in time for the rally. Winnipeg Manitoba to Oz is a long way in a fast bird let alone a slow one. I'm in the same boat, George: thinking I should trundle down there in something rapid. But living Down East here in Nose Kosher, I'm not sure whether I should go east or west. If the latter, we could meet up and formate on each other on the way down.

Guys,
I'm currently working on finalising all the detail, and dotting "i's" and crossing "t's". But as per previous GAARs, the event will be officially conducted in February. The web site and Registration will be open in the first week of January - I would say 01 Jan 13, but some unforeseen circumstance might arise and then someone will accuse me of being late.
Rules remain pretty much unchanged, though I am going through them at the moment.
Cheers Andrew

I'm considering trying again in 2013, though my other half is itching to have a go, and we can't both do it, so maybe I'll let him get in the cockpit for this one! Been out of it for too long - family stuff, etc, you know how it is when real life intrudes on virtual flying!

Katie,
Good to hear from you again. If you can both agree on the same aircraft, you could fly the GAAR as a "team" and alternate flying the legs, or one does the first half and the other does the second half of the flight legs.
I have had a few team entries in the GAAR in the last couple of years and have been part of team entries as well and it works well for those who are constrained for time.
Cheers Andrew

Well flight plan is ready to be filed. I have had to really think this one through cause of the max distance limits for the P38 even with two external wing tanks. Leaving after Christmas this year on the 28th. Stop over in Vancouver for a fireworks New Year show then on to OZ. See you all there.
