Thanks to all contestants , it always make me surprised to see entries from the far corners of the world .. again Bluegrass , Andrew , and the OZ division made the flights interesting , Now back to work , Sim flying the Alaska Division ,then seeing if I can do as much poor navigation over where ever Muttley's Rally takes me ..Might have to take a hop over the Bearing Straights to see what Holiday Camp Capt. Zlogg is visiting ..Great fun.

Thanks to Andrew for organising a great event and processing hundreds of pireps so quickly. A mammoth task professionally and graciously handled as always.
Hope to see you all again next year.

I was unable to finish the event, I tried, I tried very hard but on the last leg my computer (flight sim) crashed every time after I turned at the Cape Otway waypoint, I redid the flight 4 times with the same result. I flew from Melb going the other way and it crashed in the same area, i flew from Warnambool 2 times only to have flt sim crash again. Not a plesent way to finish the event and no fault of the organisers im just baffled at what has happened.
Oh well see you all next year...... please dont have me flying down Cape Otway area again ;D
Cheers and Beer from The Philippines

Shorttwo. Strange that. I didn't have any problems this year, but previously I've experienced something similar. I use FS9 and Voz, and thought that it could be something to do with the way they stitch together. Either that or the bunyips.

Shorttwo.
I had the same problem with FSX one time at Cape Otway, and once also at Port Phillip Head.
In each case when I reflew it I saved the flights just before Cape Otway and also just before Port Phillip Head. In both cases I didn't need the saved flight as I had no further problems. sorry you didn't get to finish the GAAR 2013

You guys didn't heed Andrew's warning about the mystery of this area.
Many years ago a light aircraft vanished during a night flight. The pilot had reported seeing strange lights near his plane. To my knowledge no trace was ever found of that aircraft.
Did you see any lights? I kept my eyes shut.

I always keep my eyes shut when landing, working by sonar -when the passengers quit screaming you must have stopped. I had sim crashing issues coming away from King Island in FS9, and ended up flying the leg unvozed from inside the VC by dead reckoning. Then in FSX I hit a perfect time, but the excitement must have got to me as I was rushing out on a business trip down south, and forgot to submit my FSX entry pirep. I once had a clash that knocked out the magnetic north bearing on compasses, and it was only flying in a DCA WR that brought it to light. The clashes that cause the crashes can be anything from airport bgls to bits of scenery bgl clashing, and it all depends on what you have previously installed/think you have uninstalled on your sim. Now I'm off to a chateau with a gateau. John L can fill in the rest.

Aha! I see one advantage of landing with your eyes shut. That way I can't see the FTime gauge and, as the wizard said, "I always arrive exactly on time".
