Ahhh, Murray Island. Such memories. Did I ever tell about the time I flew a circuit at Murray Island in my PA-23 ... at midnight?

Coconut Island: In FSX Scenery it looks like that the Runway-Elevation is faulty! When I set my plane to the Island: Crash! Any others experienced the same? Cheers Urs

Capt.Zlogg is most likely enjoying an extended stay at one of the mother lands siberian resort complexies for distirbuting the secret kettel brew, alias rocket fuel and pilot antifreeze to the capitalist the last GAAR...Smitty? was a test pilot for Proopie's brew, might be still trying to recover(I only used it for removing bugs from the wind screen) All the above is roobish - typical kapitalistny decandenty propaganda aimed at our beloved Motherland. Soon we shall enter ze skies over AUS and show you silly lot how to fly an aeroplane properly. Upto that time we are busy in supporting comrade Propellorovsky in his campaign to be elected chief janitor of the U.S.A (what a mess..) cheers Capt. Paupa New Guinea ,make my airplane choice a chance at best, was going with a Pt-17 and a Cessna 170b but both run out of power above 11,000Ft and the mountains can run 14,000,back to the hanger! Only plane I have that can fly that high and still land and takeoff at YMUI is my trusty AC680S, so guess that's what I'll have to fly if I enter.

Coconut Island: In FSX Scenery it looks like that the Runway-Elevation is faulty! When I set my plane to the Island: Crash! Any others experienced the same? Cheers Urs Urs, I have checked all the GAAR airports in FSX again and all appear fine. This check, as with the original planning, was done on a standard install of FSX. It sounds like you may have some terrain mesh installed and this may be causing the problem. Holger Sandmann has produced some good Australian terrain mesh which should correct the problem when layered above your other terrain mesh add-on. It can be downloaded from the link below, however, it is a 241MB file. Otherwise, try disabling your other terrain mesh temporarily. www.myftx.com/FTX_AU_BLUE/FTXAUHOLGERMESH100_SP3.zipCheers Andrew

Well, the Murray Island story is rather short. I flew the curcuit in FS9 in 2008 or 2009. On the first circuit I crashed, my approach was too high and the hard landing punched out the gear. I also crashed on the second circuit, my approach was too low and I hit the cliff. Hard to make a go around on a low approach. If you can't see the strip you are too low. But I landed on the third try, not very pretty and "not exactly on the center line", but I didn't break anything. Getting the flare right is a little tricky. Maybe if I get some time I'll try it again in FSX.
And Capt. Zlogg, it's good to hear from you again. You have been quiet for a while.

He and Proppy have been in a Siberian holiday camp Allen, they were having a luxurious rest while it was determined what taxes were due on the distribution of products from Proppy's kettle.
It seems they were on a good thing until the Bundaberg City Council (Bundaberg is the centre of Oz rum production) got their noses out of joint due to the wild party going on at the airport without a drop of "Bundy" being consumed. The crew at the Customs Agency in Lubertsy inexplicably heard about this and the rest is, as the saying goes, history.

The GAAR organising committee is always concerned when a participant "drops off the radar" for a period. It is good to hear from you CAPT Zlogg and good to know you still have concerns for the state of the kapitalistny woes.
Whilst we can't be seen to be supporting any one individual or possible questionable activity (we know there would be nothing illegal going on), we will do everything to help clear up any misunderstanding with Australian Customs, the Dept of Immigration and the Australian Federal Police in the interests of maintaining the reputation and high moral standing of the GAAR.
I look forward to seeing you in the skies and in the Forums with your valued contributions.
Cheers Andrew

Sorry mates to bore you with a question from from the technical field: I was a privat pilot for 25 yrs. but never confronted with such high flight level like in PNG. Even not in the alps!
Q: When I fly with a MAP of 18" and RPM 2300 on 12500 ft AMSL, do I over_torque my engine? PS: nearly full lean and ARCS are all in the green! Cheers Urs
