(further to Johnl's post in screenshots) Thanks John, it makes a big difference. Took a bit of fiddling, since my panel is already modified, but now it's there and working. Guess it's just the FS equivalent of moving my head to one side, so not really a fiddle. My engineer is ecstatic about the autopilot and is hoping we can get one positioned to Port Moresby. Having said that, once she's trimmed she is pretty stable.

Just for the sake of another X-Plane entry, Morehead (MHD) airfield is not in the default X-Plane airport list. I have created the airfield and will post it to anyone interested.
I have also done the weather data in the X-Plane .rwx format should anyone be interested.
And a message to all the MSFS fans:
"When people move up in the world into X-Plane they will get the 'moving from high school into paid work' feeling and we who have been here for a while will get deja vu."

just flew legs #3 & #4 ,climb over the mountains fully loaded ,then dropped into the pit for a touch and go ,then decided to try and cut through a pass instead of climbing to 13,000 Ft. so I ended up bearly squeecking through a saddel at 9,500..This is fun.

About Saidor (SDR)
Did I land on a wrong destination? On google earth I have checked a runway 12/30 1160m x 45m Grass. In a Screenshot, I have seen a runway in full concrete, with hangars etc..
Is it depending on the scenery in the FS or is it real? Cheers Urs

Urs, you are right,....I have seen the same thing, at Bulolo and Saidor ( paulvdberg!?!?!?!) and as I am really interested in sceneries as close to reality as possible, I always wanted to know how you can "feed" your PC with the most realistic addons.....( we have had a personal discussion about this )
then, I have seen many differences between FS9 and FSX, especially in presentation of airfields and scenery details....
are there more addons than the official ones from GAAR announcements ?
I use FSX

Indeed it is interesting to compare Paul's Saidor with Google Earth, albeit a few years old but I suspect not a lot has happened there in the interim.

Google Earth has made the job of the flightsim scenery creator a lot easier, but Adrian Shortall released pngapts3.zip and its supporting files in 2004, before Google Earth was publicly available, and the description of it in flightsim.com included the sentence "All are imaginary mods". It has served to provide much pleasure to those who brave PNGs virtual skies, and many flights have been made to view the fine (and fictional) collections of historic aircraft which grace the hangars at some of the airports. A decided improvement on FS9's default scenery for FS9, imo. Of course, it could be that the present grass runways have replaced hard ones. Although this is seems unlikely, we had a local precedent for this at Gosport (Fort Grange), which had concrete runways in the 1930s which were replaced by (admittedly) longer grass runways during WW2.

I procrastinated this time and just tonight went feet wet from KLGB on my final leg to Aurtralia for the rally. Good thing the Lanc has an enormous fuel load. I'm going to need it so I'm not swimming the final few miles to the next stop. Hey everybody don't leave without me.

Just flown the leg to Mendi. This is my fourth GAAR, and I think the most challenging yet. The old Rapide is staggering a bit over the mountains, but it does give a good idea of what the early pioneers faced (without the comfort of a centrally-heated house and endless cups of coffee!). My scenery puts Mendi in a bowl, and the approach is difficult. It'll be interesting to see how others cope; I'm just glad I'm down.

Hi there,....does anyone from you know, if the files: pngapts3.zip work with FSX, cause they are made for FS9........? and btw: as you mentioned, leg 5 is really challenging, esp. cause my bird has to carry 5000 lbs cargo and fuel filled to max..... the gravel RW at Mendi has some deeeeeeeeep grooves from my boxcar's gears ......so be careful..... let's hope we can take off tomorrow ,..... we do not want to stay there for the rest of our days and the Flying boxcar turns out to be a resting boxcar....LOL..... so Mendi airport stuff has to care for the runway and we care for our tires and maybe we have to install our starting booster at the fuselage top ....
